This book took me through a roller coaster of emotions. To imagine a child having to face these challenges alone should be a true example to us all. His perseverance should be a sign to everyone that life could always be worse and we should be thankful for everything we hold dear to us. I can honestly say that I now have a new look on my life and my love for my family. I highly recommend this to anyone in need of inspiration.

This book, as simple as it is, fills you up with a series of feelings that wake up the human spirit. Living during such a painful period for this orphan and his younger siblings, makes us appreciate what living a life of plenty really means. Making us realize what we totally take for granted in our life. The trials, courage, and love of this person should keep us humble through our life. What a great person Daniel was! I recommend for old and young readers to grab this book and read it with their hearts wide open!

From the minute I picked up this book I found it very touching. I could not wait to get back to it the next day. I found this book to be enlightening and original. I got through to the part of the orphanage and found myself overwhelmed with tears. This happened a few more times throughout the book. I was inspired with Daniel's life and his endurance to find his family that was taken away from him. I felt for him throughout the story. I learned through the telling of this book that this was a true story and there is nothing more inspirational. The author of this book is the actual daughter of the man this book was written for. It gives you the sense that this story finally was able to be told by someone who truly remembered the stories that were told to her by her wonderful father. I couldn't help but wish that this story could come to life on the screen or television. One thing I found interesting was all the characters Daniel met along his way to reach his quest. I can't wait to get back to reading it again. I have recommended this book to my children, family and friends. What a great story this was and a great read. I loved it.

I have but one question. Why is it that so many books that are ficticious can be read by the public, yet one that is pure and amazing, and a book we can relate to is not on the shelves of many book stores? As simple as this book is, it carries such a powerful force. A force that guides us through life, and one that we hardly experience during our lifetime. So glad to have read this book, and so thrilled that knowing that the author still continues sharing of her father's quest. Not only she teaches children how to face adversities during their youth, but she also teaches adults that many times coward at some of the experiences they face during their life. I can only hope that one good producer can make this book into a movie for all humanity to watch! Simply beautiful and pure!
