Overview

BAKE AWAY THE HUNGRIES

Put on your oven mitts-here's a tasty helping of sweet and savory recipes for all occasions, or for no occasion at all! Invite Bialosky the Chef Bear into your kitchen and learn to bake breakfast breads, tea cakes, after-school snacks, dinner popovers, luscious desserts, and an all-American Fall Harvest Apple and Cheddar Pie.

SWEET-TALK FROM BIALOSKY:

"When I was growing up, we weren't as concerned about the amount of sugar we ate as we are today. So I've reduced the amounts traditionally used in all these recipes and have still kept their good old-fashioned taste. Now my friends and I can have a cookie or two without thinking about how much sugar is in them."

Rena Coyle, a former professional pastry chef, teaches children's cooking classes and is the author of My First Cookbook and Baby Let's Eat! She tested each of the original recipes in this book with her five-year-old daughter Catelyn.

Biolosky is an invaluable right-hand bear for every young baker. (He especially likes helping with the Honey 'n' Spice Bits.)

This has a lot of baking recipes (although despite the misleading cover, it does not have a bread recipe), but I haven't actually made anything from here. I'm not sure that these recipes look all that simple, despite being in "My First Baking Book," but they cover a wide variety of needs.
