SOMETIMES THE BEST GIFTS CAN'T BE WRAPPED

All Mandy Carson wants for Christmas is a distraction...and maybe a date to her friend's New Year's Eve wedding. Ghosts from the past always loom larger this time of year, and Mandy's having a hard time faking her usual fun-loving demeanor. But when her much-needed distraction arrives in the form of the man who rocked her world the long-ago night of their junior prom, she's forced to confront the painful scars that caused her to bolt back in high school.

Wildlife rescuer Calvin Rocha always regretted letting Mandy slip out of his life, so when fate brings them together on a snowy mountain road with an injured hawk on Christmas Eve, he's determined to make the most of this second chance. He agrees to be her wedding date, hoping the romantic weekend will bring them back together. And as the clock counts down to midnight, Cal and Mandy might just discover that the best gift they'll receive this season is each other.

Rachel Lacey ties together the end of the Risking It All series and the start of her Almost Royal series in spectacular fashion. celebrating the wedding of one of our couples from the Risking It All series at the venue which is the focal point of the Almost Royal series Mandy is a difficult character to get to grips with. From the beginning, there is a sense of grief that overshadows all of Mandy's life, although the cause of her melancholy is not revealed for quite so time. Uncovering Mandy's background and family situation provide understanding to her negativity, personally, I cannot imagine what impact it would have on anyone's sense of self. Calvin had a huge crush on Mandy through school and only plucked up the courage to approach her at the senior prom, resulting in an unforgettable night for the both of them. When a freak road accident traps a bird in Mandy's car grill it is as if fate has handed Calvin a second chance at the woman of his dreams. However, Mandy is very skittish where relationships are concerned, mainly due to a lot of unresolved issues concerning her family. Undertaking a weekend together to attend Carly and Sam's wedding (Rock with You)  provides Calvin with the opportunity to turn their reunion into something a little more permanent!!! I loved witnessing Calvin break down Mandy's barriers gently with a great deal of care and consideration. It is through Calvin's tender care Mandy is able to shed the cloud that has been covering her for most of her life and create a happy and loving future for herself and Calvin. My only small gripe with My Gift is You was the abrupt ending, I really could have done with an extended epilogue to gain insight into the future of the couples featured in the Risking It All series

A passion filled Christmas novella that gives a second chance at finding a soul mate for high school acquaintances who shared a moment after the prom back in the old days. With the limited length of a novella, a romance story often can go two ways: either focus on the emotional side of developing a relationship or for the physical passion burning between the hero and the heroine in the story. With Mandy Carson and Calvin Rocha, the heat is high, the need is urgent, and the ardent love scenes fill the pages. Calvin had a huge crush on Mandy in high school and will do everything in his power to take this second chance to built a relationship with Mandy. Mandy is a troubled woman, with family issues that burden her mind, making her doubt her self-worth, and acting it out promiscuously. She is taken by Calvin and the familiarity, safety, comfort, and companionship he brings to the table, along with hot and heavy moments in between them. The story has its sweet moments as it smoothly flows off the pages and entertains. It is great escapism and touches the holiday theme from the point of a single person in mids of all the coupled up friends. The love scenes are tastefully written, and Calvin's job gives the tale an intriguing touch. A good romance novella to escape the possible holiday stress with ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Rachel Lacey’s My Gift is You seamlessly ties together her Risking It All and Almost Royal series. In the final installment of the Risking It All series, longtime readers will thoroughly enjoy seeing Sam and Carly get married and Mandy finally find her way. Calvin is a very nice surprise and easily blends into this world. I really enjoyed seeing Meghan from the Almost Royal series back; I’m very much looking forward to her story. This Christmas novella is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novella.

Wow Rachel Lacey knows how to write a great story. Her books catch your attention from page one and keep your attention all the way to the end. I adore how skillfully she puts pen to paper. Rachel Lacey's words are captivating. My Gift is You is a breathtakingly beautiful book. My Gift is You is unique in the way that it is a crossover for the Almost Royal book series. It is also the final book in the Risking It All series. I must admit I'm heartbroken that the Risking it All series has now ended. Mandy Carson and Cal Rocha attended the same high school. There was nothing about their story that I didn't love. Mandy is the one that got away. They have a chemistry that you see from their prom and it was good to see they still had it years later. I love that Mandy finally got her happily ever after. I love Mandy and Cal. Cal is very charismatic. I loved that we got an update on Emma and Ryan, Mark and Jessica and Ethan and Gabby of the Risking it All series. I even loved catching up with Theo and Elle. This really is the perfect ending to a great series and the perfect story. My Gift is You is a book to be read again and again. Rachel Lacey has written a masterpiece. She gives life to everything she writes and that is clear to see in My Gift is You. Mandy and Cal leapt off the page from page one throughout the entire book. Reading this book was like falling in love. So exciting and a bit exhilarating. I felt like I was transformed into their world. As if I was actually there and not just reading a story. My Gift is You was romantically magical for me. As I read it everything else around me disappeared. Reading My Gift is You was a pleasure to read. You will love it from page one all the way through the end. I was not able to put it down and neither will you. I was sorry to see this series end but Rachel Lacey gave us the perfect ending. Thank you Rachel Lacey for this breathtakingly beautiful book.

Short, sexy and oh so sweet! A sweet novella taking place around the holidays does a great job of wrapping up Rachel Lacey's Risking It All series as well as tying in her newest Almost Royal series so we get a glimpse into two worlds at once! The characters were as well developed as they can be in a novella length book, and the plot, though fast paced, was sweet and enjoyable. Mandy Carson finds herself taking a walk down memory lane when she least expects it when she runs into Calvin Rocha by chance. The sexy wildlife rehabilitator rocked her world once upon a time before life sent them in different directions. She's trying to bury the past by enjoying the holiday season and the upcoming wedding she's attending. Cal had a crush on Mandy long before their one night of passion and he's regretted letting her slip through his fingers many times over the years. He's happy to step up and offer to be her date to this wedding if it means getting some one on one time with her again. She might only be looking for right now, but he's hoping to convince her to take a look at forever!

Favorite Quotes: Their kiss was tentative but familiar, like rediscovering a favorite song, one he hadn’t heard since high school. She tasted like scotch and nostalgia, melting the winter night around them with memories of a red-checked blanket and the scent of warm grass. Did you know I was voted ‘Most Likely to Get Arrested’ in our senior yearbook? My Review: This sweet and sexy story just flew by – I was rather surprised to realize I had finished it in one sitting. Despite its brief duration, the narrative was eventful, active, and enjoyable engaging while blending two popular series and crossing several genres. Impressive! This was a small-town, second chance, holiday, adult contemporary romance with a rockstar wedding and rescue animals in an English lord’s castle in Virginia, and completed in only eighty-four pages. Wow, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around all of that goodness.
