About the Author

Fran Blackwell had her Jazz beginnings in New Orleans where she fell in love with the form as well as with Jazz drummer Ed Blackwell, whom she married. They had 3 children, 9 grand-children and 11 great-grand-children, and growing. She cites Blackwell as the influence for her poetic style. A pivotal experience in her life was being arrested for miscegenation. In 1958 New Orleans society was intolerant of couples of mixed race. She knew growing up as a child, that the unjust segregation laws of the deep south could not be truth, and were in fact, an assault against Soul. This event was a catalyst for her to continue her search for Truth, no matter the cost. She began writing poetry later in life, as she found her inspiration for expressing the mystical. For the past 45 years she has studied the Spiritual teachings of Eckankar, practicing and living the spiritual principles which opened her heart to discovery and exploration of the mystical and spiritual worlds. Blackwell is the author of a previous book of poetry, Fingerprints of God. She has traveled the world as a speaker and workshop facilitator on spiritual topics, and devotes her life to a path of service and love. She currently lives in Florida.
