I began my writing career as the owner of a weekly newspaper. I made no attempt to disguise my editorials because I knew my readers knew I wrote them. But they were never certain about the ones Avery wrote. I created him as my alter ego-telling about the frustrations of working in a print shop and for a boss (me) who was always angry. I combined these two forms of writing a few years ago, pretending they were letters to a friend. I was the primary character-most usually as someone to laugh at (the Avery in me). I have arranged these "letters" in their proper time frame and indexed, so you can quickly return to the ones you like best to reread and laugh again-or cry.
