This book will hook you, charm you, and possibly make you break a sweat from pure steam. It starts on a ski trip in Aspen, where Kolton and Shay meet and clash amidst a serious chemistry storm. Their story comes down to earth when their careers bring them together once more, and for me, that's when all my favorite parts came in. Hate sex and charged bickering aren't my flavor of the month, but in this book, you can see so clearly how Shay and Kolton are both sweet, generous people who keep accidentally tromping all over each other's hot buttons. Throughout the book, Shay was almost painfully human in her fallibility and so relatable I felt like I probably had her name somewhere in my contacts list. I really enjoyed the details of her career as a designer and watching her mentally redecorate every room with incredible Pinterest-worthy visuals. Kolton was smoking hot sexy, which in no way was impacted by his super sweet role as a single father. There's a whole cast of supporting characters as well, all quirky and charming and I'm already dying for the next two books. I can't WAIT to see Sawyer and Lily's friendship blossom into more, and I'm frothing at the mouth for Nico and Raven's snarky romance, which is sure to have lots of bumps along its road. Which is to say, the characters throughout A+. What really won this book its five-star rating, though, was the wooing. I've read thousands of romance novels, and at this point, it's pretty hard for any of them to stand out for long. But over and over again, Kolton's romantic gestures came through as utterly unique. They were grand, sweeping, creative (THE SNOW GLOBE!) but they were also so personal (McDonald's, the movies with little notes...) that you felt that the characters really knew each other. It wasn't A love story. It was THEIR love story. And that's what made it great.

I laughed so loud that I got heads to turn and weird eye rolls. I was holding my side with the delight of this read. I found it funny, sexy, and felt the hostility between Kolten and Shay. The chemistry between the two was there in your face. I had great excitement in entertaining a new author. This story brought it around. Kolten and Shay both had a past that was interfering in there present. The intensity of their encounters was engrossing. Their journey to deal with their past and with each other was like a chemical reaction in some place and meltdown in others. Siskind gave a full cast of character with depth and intense, yet satisfying interaction with both primary and secondary characters. I will be patiently waiting for the next book in this series to hit the shelves. **This ARC was provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

Kelly Siskind's "My Perfect Mistake" is almost a modern, fun, and lots Sexier take on "Pride and Prejudice". We have a Devilishly handsome Hero, Kolton, who the Heroine thinks is a colossal Jerk and a spirited sensuous Heroine, Shay, who the Hero thinks is an Unholy Shrew. Whenever they meet their tempers flare and sparks fly igniting not only hot heads but their fiery passions. The hero is a widower and a single father who lives haunted by the memories of his wife, good and bad. He lives across the country from the heroine who has just come out of a poisonous relationship which battered her self esteem and she is starting over from scratch. The hero has been in a holding pattern for so long that now he wants things to move along in just the way he wants it. The heroine had been controlled and molded into a person that wasn't for a long time and she wants to be herself and prove she can be successful on her own merit. That's the conflict, he's Prejudiced by the experience of his past and her Pride demands that she shine on its own and not let a man sway her to change her course. These characters are fun and fascinating. The secondary characters are incredibly amusing and compelling, making you salivate for their stories to come around, because you know they are. The little boy, Jackson, is perfection. He is adorable, vulnerable, hysterical, and you just want to eat him up he's so sweet. There are blazingly red-hot, and intense sex scenes that are on the verge of Hate Sex. Super Irritated Sex. The novel alternates between light and serious, high and low, all or nothing. Plus there is a pretty intriguing secondary storyline running along just beneath the surface. This is Good Stuff! I love the "wooing" that Kelly Suskind has Kolton do in order to win over Shay. Stella the Assistant/babysitter is a Hoot and a half! Jackson + Stella is Outrageous on the Precocious scale. "My Perfect Mistake" is that perfect blend of Humor and Angst (and you never hear me saying the Angst word in a positive light). In this novel the conflict between the Hero and Heroine ... the arguments on both sides are compelling and justifiable. This novel is Good Stuff. The Fun. The Conflict. The Sexual Tension! I absolutely loved this book! I feel like I've been saying that about quite a few books I've read lately, but can you really go wrong with a book whose first sentence reads "You can tell a lot about a woman by the type of bra she wears"? To say that Kolton and Shay became enemies at first meeting is a big understatement. But something about all that animosity is the fuel for their lust for each other. Before you know it, they're hate f#cking each other. But could there more to their chemistry than what happens when they argue? They both have events from their pasts that are contributing factors to the people we get to meet in this book, and I loved watching the changes in their relationship, both personal and professional. I love the character development for Kolton and Shay, you could empathize with Kolton's desire and trepidation at entering the dating scene again, given the tragedy he endured a few years prior. And my goodness, I'm surprised Shay lasted as long as she did with her ex, because he sounds like 74 kinds of ridiculous. The road to romance for Kolton and Shay has it bumps, but it's well worth it by the time you reach the end. I'm already waiting for the next book in the series, there's still Shay's two friends, and hopefully we'll get a story for Stella (hint hint Ms. Siskind!)
