This story is about a gay couple who is not completely accepted by their family. The book does a good job explaining what is means to be homosexual to a young child.

My Two Uncles is a book about being gay and what problems some people may have with it. A girl named Elly has two uncles who she loves very much and loves to do things with. But when she finds out that her grandpa does not like one of her uncles, she does not understand. Her dad explains to her what being gay/lesbian is. A great book to introduce a young child to this topic. As a reader I thought that this book was pretty well written. It tells you that just because you are gay does not mean that you cannot have fun or love. It tells you some of the troubles that gays run into. Very well put book.As a teacher I would certainly use this book in my classroom. I believe that children should be exposed to certain topics (not thrown into but told about). I believe that by knowing certain things about the real world that they will become more open minded about different people and how they live.
