About the Author

The author's life spans from 1931 Italy to 2009 in America.
In a simple but concise way, she tells about herself and the societies in which she lived. She wrote her book because she strongly felt she had something to say about what losing spiritual freedom to material subjugation can do to the individual. After more than thirty years working in business data processing, she retired. She now lives in Virginia with her daughter and son- in- law. Her favorite hobbies are poetry, reading painting, and music.

This memoirs began, I think, as a mother's attempt to bridge the chasm of history, culture, experience, and values between her and her children. But I think it speaks to a wider audience of readers and helps to cast just one more ray of light, not just on the immigrant experience, but on the journey of the heart. I commend its honesty, candor and dreams- the one that were shattered and the ones that endure. Any effort to share and thus preserve family history should be applauded. This particular account covers wars, continents, jobs, houses, deaths, births, but most of all the yearning for freeodm of body, mind and soul. Her children will undoubtedly be a bit wiser for its telling, an so am I.
