Mystery of the Heart is full of mystery and suspense from the first page. It is an exciting read with interesting characters, family warmth, and a generous bit of romance. It seems to end rather abruptly, though the conclusion is satisfying. I would have liked there to have been more time and words spent on that portion of the story. Still, all in all, I really enjoyed it. I can see that the characters could have more adventures in their future. If the author chooses to write a fourth book, I would certainly look forward to reading a future installment.

Jillian Kent in her new book, “Mystery Of The Heart” Book Three in The Ravensmoore Chronicles series published by Realms brings us into the life of Lady Mercy Grayson in 1819. From the back cover: Lord Eden is intrigued by Lady Mercy Grayson’s secret, but how can he hope to gain her heart if he is forced to betray her? Lady Mercy Grayson longs to be a physician like her older brother, Lord Ravensmoore. However, society would never tolerate a female physician, let alone one who is a noblewoman. So Mercy takes matters into her own hands, disguising herself as a man to get through medical school. But when a colleague grows suspicious, Mercy is in danger of losing more than her dreams. Returning home from a secret voyage for the regent, Lord Eden agrees to give Mercy passage back to London. As their attraction to each other grows, they face circumstances, decisions, and treachery that could forever change the course of their lives. In 1819 women really didn’t become doctors. The medical profession was a man’s field and they did not take lightly women who encroached into their territory. Which is the reason why Mercy is thrown overboard. Lord Eden finds her washed up on the beach and, together, they board another ship with Mercy disguised as a boy. Lord Eden is looking for a relic that was stolen from him and both of them need to return to England. “Mystery of the Heart” is chock full of mystery, suspense action and adventure. My personal feeling is that this is Ms. Kent’s best work yet. With everything else that is going on Ms. Kent also works in a really nice romance as well. I like the way Ms. Kent writes. She is an accomplished author who knows how to deliver true to life dialog and create characters that you fall in love with. The love story between Mercy and Lord Eden is a lot of fun and this book is filled with plenty of action to keep you turning the pages. ”Mystery of the Heart” is an excellent read! Lady Mercy Grayson is not the typical member of English Society, she opens the book dressed like a male, and trying to make it to shore, after being thrown in the Ocean. What was doing in the Ocean?? The beginning of the third installment in the Ravensmore Chronicles. That being said, I recommend that your read the first two books, they are equally as good, but this can be read alone. While Lady Mercy is lying on the beach, trying to breath from her ordeal, Lord Eden chances upon her. In the end he helps her, and cuts her hair...ugh! He tells the men on the ship that he has brought a boy to help and be his Valet...he has no idea who she really is. You can just picture the surprise in his eyes, when she gives him the address of her sister, Countess Victoria, married to Lord Witt. He also finds out her brother is Devlin Grayson, Lord Doctor Ravensmore. We are about to set out on a great adventure, one where Lord Evan has been charged to bring a relic to the Regent, and another where Lady Mercy, wants desperately to be a physician. Will theses two be able to find a bit of romance between them, or will one of them end up dead, with all the evil that is going on? This is a good, action packed Christian mystery, and I had to keep reading once I picked this book up! I received this book through Charisma House, and was not required to give a positive review.

Sometimes the beginnings for love can be found in the most unusual of circumstances. Mercy Grayson is truly thankful just to be alive. She has managed to have found the safety and security of land, after nearly being lost at sea. Now washed ashore, she wonders where she is. She looks up into the face of a man, Lord Eden, who tells her she has found her way to England and is about more than confused at the clothing she is wearing. Not what a woman would normally would, she has managed to wear a man's jacket and pants and if it were not for them, she would have drowned for sure. She begs Lord Eden to help her find her sister, but refuses to offer any more explanation at just who she is and how she arrived washed up on the shore with no signs of a ship wreck in sight. Lord Eden tells her that the ship he is traveling on is filled with men who have the most unpure intentions if they were to know she is a woman, so he insists on cutting off her long hair to make her appear as a young lad to match the clothing and ensure her passage on the ship. He reminds her to speak to no one and to remain in his cabin until they dock. When they arrive at the ship, she learns that Lord Eden probably saved not only her life but reputation as well keeping her identity hidden from the crew. He has her placed in his cabin under the ruse of being a valet he has found on the shore. She makes herself comfortable as best as she can, staying hidden in his cabin. While searching for a shirt to wear while her clothes dry, she comes across a wooden box that contains a spear head inside. Not sure what it is, she places the contents back in the box and covers it once more with clothing. When the ship docks, Mercy has Lord Eden take her to her sister, Victoria's home and tells him that she is indeed royalty which he finds hard to believe. She is Lady Mercy Grayson of Ravensmoore and now the mystery is beginning to unfold as to how she found herself on the shores of North Umberland and what transpired to cause her to wind up in the ocean from Scotland. It seems both Lord Eden and Lady Grayson each have a bit of a secret each of them is hiding and neither one wants to be the first to tell their tales. Perhaps fate has dealt them each a different hand that is about to converge. I received Mystery of the Heart by Jillian Kent compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance and Realm Publishers for my honest review. This is the third book in the Ravensmoore Chronicle Series and delivers its finest to true traditional regencies fans! I love reading books with a strong, determined woman character who finds her interests lie in a man's world but still wish to pursue it despite what society may deem is inappropriate for a woman. In this case studying medicine and it seems as though God has truly blessed Lady Mercy Grayson will more than just a healing touch! I rate this book a true 5 out of 5 stars and find myself a true die hard Jillian Kent fan!
