About the Author
Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in 1890 in Putnam, Connecticut, where she taught school and wrote The Boxcar Children because she had often imagined how delightful it would be to live in a caboose or freight car. Encouraged by the book's success, she went on to write eighteen more stories about the Alden children.

This book is about 4 children whos mother and father died and went to live in a boxcar. They thought that their grandfather was mean but he wasn't he was very kind? Then they came to live with their grandfather and they now they live in a home with a dog named Watch. They go to Lucilla Lake an here of a lake monster named Lucy. Is she real or not? And who is the suspects find out yourself! And I really hope you'll like the book!
