About the Author

Guido Rings is Professor of Postcolonial Studies at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. His research areas are postcolonialism, intercultural communication and gender studies with a focus on questions of identity and alterity in contemporary European literature and film. He is author of Narrating against the Tide (Erzahlen gegen den Strich 1996) and Conquered Conquerors (Eroberte Eroberer 2005), and co-editor of European Cinema: Inside Out (2003), Bilderwelten-Textwelten-Comicwelten (2007) and GFL (www.gfl-journal.com). Anne Ife is Reader in European Studies at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Her research interests are second language acquisition, the policy and practice of second language use, including lingua franca communication, and language diversity and policy in Europe. She has published many articles in those areas and also co-edited Language across Boundaries (Continuum).
