I love the Perfect Date series. Elliston and Della were so much fun, you couldn't help but cheer them on to a successful relationship. Although one of the main reasons I enjoy the series is because it is about more mature couples this particular standalone is about a younger couple. Della and Elliston were equally enjoyable. Not to mention that Della's family was truly unique. A book that I highly recommend it you enjoy light hearted romantic comedies. I think I either laughed or smiled through almost the entire book. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.

McDonald tops all the other books in The Perfect Date series with Never Be Her Hero. I absolutely adored the romance and banter between Elliston and Della. McDonald never disappoints with strong character development, witty banter, and sweet, yet sexy story. The steam level is low, but the romance is engaging and the story is delightful. I love the secondary characters as well. They give you more of a backstory for Della and insight into Elliston. I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romance genre. I voluntarily read and reviewed a complementary copy of this book.

Working at a dating service and working on your doctorate? Della has a busy and very full life. She doesn't have time for men or boyfriends. So she's a bit stumped when she realizes she doesn't want to show up solo for her sister's wedding. The funny part is Elliston has a dating emergency as he waited too long to actually book a proper date through the service. Mariah has her work cut out for her to get him sorted with only 2 days notice! The deals that are made to get through two weekends are hilarious and the laughs don't end. I had a great time giggling along with Della for most of the book, until the tears came. I so enjoyed this story. Della and Elliston are a match for sure!

4.5 Stars! If you are familiar with this series, you've already met Della and Elliston. When I found out that they where the coupling in this book, I was truly looking forward to it. This story deviates from McDonald's usual older woman/younger man trope and gives us two relatively young people who discover love when they least expect. I've read all of the books in this series and prior to this story, my favorite was the first in the series. I'm having a really hard time deciding if this one has become my new favorite. If not favorite, definitely a strong second. I loved Elliston and his dogged pursuit of Della. Throw in some "fake" dates and Della's crazy (but lovable) family, and you've got an amazingly fun foundation for romance. I simply enjoyed myself the entire book. (This is my voluntary and honest review of an advanced copy of Never Be Her Hero)

First, this is a standalone book. However, we have met the characters in previous books and to me, that makes it all the more fun. Never Be Her Hero is about Elliston McElroy and Della Livingston. It may sound complicated when I write it however the author did a much better job of making it interesting, funny, loving and did I mention funny? Elliston has used the date-matching agency, where Della works, in the past but right now, he needs a “fake” girlfriend for a weekend date/business meeting. Turns out, Della needs a “fake” boyfriend for her sister’s wedding. Smell a funny story coming from this trade? Ms. McDonald delivered! I liked how we got to watch all the different emotions from these two, including their family backgrounds and how they influenced who these two are right now. I don’t want to give any spoilers but Della has a lot to work through AND learn. Elliston interacting with her family? Priceless! And so touching… Great story, smidge different from the ones that came before it, but just as enjoyable. Love how the author incorporates snarky humor into her stories and am looking forward to the next installment!

I've been waiting for Della to get her own story and it was worth the wait. Della has been more in the background in the previous books and now we really get to know her--and her crazy family! I laughed really hard. We get to see Elliston and Della both mature at they figure out what it is they want in life. They are perfect for each other. Two career minded people that don't have time for a relationship suddenly want nothing more. . .Never say Never!
