Overview

Social Customs and mores for the "Old South" should dictate that Robert and Chastity, two young people from different social status, should never come together. Chastity is a red haired self centered young maiden from the upper crust of society. Her father is a well to do lawyer. She lives with her father in a white columned house in the rich part of town. Robert is a young dark haired youth whose father had reportedly drowned in the Mississippi River several year prior to the start of conflict. Robert lives with his widowed mother in a small cabin in the woods outside Vicksburg and is at the lower level of society. The War causes a lot of suffering and sacrifices that changes most everyone's outlook. Thanks to the siege of Vicksburg and Chastity's meddling father, they finally find love. The trials and tribulations of coming of age in a land torn by war forges an undying love between the young couple and are finally able to be consummate their love at the end of the war.
