Overview

A sumptuous selection of beautifully designed homes from East Asia.
The appeal of contemporary interior design in Asia can be found in the sense of balance and calm that the simple yet elegant furnishings, furniture, and art impart.
Few design styles include such an intriguing mixture of cultures and traditions. Whether the interior decoration invokes the feeling of opulence in the Ming dynasty or follows the almost mystical aspects of feng shui design, it includes a wonderfully rich palette and offers a variety of decorative themes.
This book features some of the most beautiful homes in Asia—from Japan, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Malaysia to Singapore, Indonesia, Java, and Bali.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Architectural Digest readers will be familiar with the content of this book; lots of sleek ultra-high-end interior design commissioned by wealthy homeowners who are never depicted in the photos. This is because photographer Listri, whose own Bangkok highrise apartment is prominently featured, contributes many photo spreads to that magazine. The houses, apartments, restaurants, and resorts shown throughout the book are scattered across Thailand, Cambodia, China, Singapore, Japan, and Indonesia. All of them, with a single exception, are beautiful jewel boxes full of expensive furnishings and priceless collections of art and antiques. The single exception is the temple residence of the monk Yot Bon in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Photographed with the same lush feeling as the other interiors, it is the only residence to show the disorderliness of daily life and the humble inhabitants.Verdict Readers who are searching for an understanding of Asia will gain little, but as a catalog of Asia-tinged high-society international lifestyle in the 21st century, this book functions well.—David McClelland, Philadelphia
