New Year's has a way of making thing happen for the best and this was no exception for Amanda. This holiday quickie is well worth the time it takes to peek in on the goings on in Napa Valley this holiday season. This was my first read from Barrett. I enjoy romance in any form. This holiday read was one to make me happy. Thanks to NetGalley and the delightful Holiday Read.

New Year’s in Napa is Elisabeth Barrett’s second book in her West Coast Holiday series. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Barrett and it definitely won’t be the last. I absolutely loved both Amanda (Mandy) Aligheri and Liam Flynn. Both of these characters had a past that greatly influenced who they were. Mandy was dealing with a tragedy that she’s thrown her life into solving while Liam wants to recapture a life he once knew. I loved walking down the path with these two characters as they learned to deal with their pasts and forge a future for their dreams. Now, I have to go back and read the first book in the series. This is a can’t miss book that I highly recommend.

3.5 - It was a new year. I was a new life. Stars. I love Elizabeth Barrett’s writing, with the level of description she gives, you can’t help but feel like you are actually in the story with the characters, seeing and experiencing the things they are, and with the depth of emotion you definitely experience her characters ups and downs with them as well. ”Your’re starved for excitement, for life. Why don’t you let yourself be free?” New Year’s in Napa follows on from Christmas in Tahoe it was good to see Annie and Chase again, but this story is about Liam Flynn and Amanda Aligheri, who met, albeit briefly two years ago when she visited Liam at his home in Tahoe. Their chemistry was undeniable, but Liam was looking for longevity and commitment, and Mandy wasn’t, her commitments were elsewhere, brought about by feelings of guilt and responsibility. ”Did you like the ride, Amanda?” I liked the dynamic between these two it is usually the guy who is against commitment and the dominating character in the story, but Mandy took both those titles for this one. Don’t get me wrong, Liam did eventually go for what he wanted both from her, and from his life in general, but for the most part Mandy was the driving force in the reigniting of their relationship fires. ”I don’t want to spend the rest of my life wondering what if? I want to spend it wondering what next.” Another enjoyable novella from the imagination of Ms. Barrett, I just wish it didn’t take a year between each one! ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.

~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Amanda Aligheri spends too much time working so in an effort to try and get some much needed downtime, she makes a New Year’s resolution to go to Napa and relax. There she finds the sexy Liam Flynn who plans to wine and dine her until she forgets herself. It is exactly the distraction she needs. Elisabeth Barrett hits on the sweeter side of the Contemporary Romance scale. I’m such a sucker for these holiday themed romances. There’s just something so intriguing to me about putting two characters together and seeing where their relationship takes them. Barrett’s writing and authorial voice fits perfectly for this genre. I found it so easy to get lost in her words and characters. For a novella, Barrett was able to capture all I love in a Contemporary Romance which I think is a hard to do. Yet I found myself smiling from ear to ear as I read Amanda and Liam’s story. *ARC provided by author
