Next Time Lucky: How to Find Your Mr. Right By Siggy Buckley Cherie, a `dating guru` who works at matchmaking couples with her business, Premier Dating Agency, finds herself dumped by George, her lover of three years. He's brutal in his assessment of her qualifications as a lover which throws her usually high self-esteem for a loop. Her three friends are there for her, helping to put the shattered pieces of her life back together. In retrospect, and a tumbler of Jameson whiskey, George wasn't all that great a lover or a man. Ironically, Cherie becomes her own client with help from Chloe, the computer wizard, and Nora who handles the phone calls. Cherie is able to barely keep your business going. Her other friend, Annie, suggests using her own agency databank to get back on the horse after such a heart wrenching fall. Her friends suggest Internet worldwide dating sites, which she claims is really catching on to the point where it could hurt Cherie's own business. And so begins the testing of Internet dating -- for both personal and business reasons. Plus it can be done at home on the computer in your bathrobe -- how easy is that? She has no idea the surprises that are heading her way during this endeavor. "Hans -- the One Who Can", her first cyber date appeals to her on so many levels and lives in Germany, her original homeland. It doesn't take long for Hans to burst Cherie's bubble of a new real romance, broken before it begins. After a few more disappointing Internet connections, Cherie meets Gerard, a gorgeous blonde German living on an Edenic exotic island off the coast of Africa. He is every woman's dream, causing her to act like a schoolgirl encountering her first love. He has an ego to match his excellent qualifications and wants to meet an intelligent woman and indulge in erotic, passionate sex marathons with her -- and even says he loves her. It takes her a while to catch on that it was all cybersex. Sigh. And he's a certifiable nut case. Along with Gerard, her Premier Dating business is disposed of, knocked off by Internet dating. Chloe and Sally find jobs as Cherie gives full attention to her wine business which is doing well. On lonely nights she surfs the dating sites. Each guy has his particular sales pitch, which they always fall short of matching. Still, Cherie, after three disasters, doesn't give up in spite of the fact that the man of her dreams is only in her dreams. Internet dating becomes addictive even if more of a fantasy life. Author Siggy Buckley writes a hilarious sometimes tongue-in-cheek, pardon the pun, book on the trials, frustrations and perils of Internet dating. Always looking for her dream man, she quickly learns it does not exist on Internet chats. Her adventures in dating men of various countries, cultures, quirks and temperaments, goes from rollicking fun to lonely nights -- sometimes with her `lover' sleeping in another room. Will Cherie ever get lucky or is there more to it than luck? This is an enjoyable novel appealing to all women and men looking for the `right' love of their life. The author gives a comprehensive list of both Internet sites and legitimate matchmaking sites for curious, lonely and interested readers to check out. It seems the more reliable matchmaking services are the most successful in finding lasting matches. If not successful the first few times, maybe you will be "Next Time Lucky." I first heard about this book from one of my girlfriends that recommended it to me. She said it was one of the most interesting books that she has ever read and that she couldn’t put it down once she started to read it. I said I would but kept putting it off until one day I was browsing amazon and saw it on their. When I read the description of the book immediately thought it was just another romance novel and i have to admit that I really was not looking forward to reading it. I read some of the comments and saw that many people had great things to say about it so I decided to give it a try. I got it on Thursday and started reading it on Friday night telling myself I would just read a few pages before I went to sleep every night. Needless to say I finished the book by Sunday evening. If you have ever been in the dating world looking for Mr. Right you can definitely identify with this book. Some of the stories are humorous and have you laughing out loud and others are more serious and often lead to personal reflection. There were times in the book that i felt that the author was sharing my own story instead of her own. So if you are looking for a great read that will keep you engaged, laughing, and thinking along the way then you should definitely pick up this book.
