CONFUSING AND NOT SCARY As someone who hosts a weekly radio show on the Para-X Network, I love a good tale of ghosts and goblins, ancient evils, malevolent entities…; therefore, I had great expectations for this novel about a Southern town somehow cursed in having been built partially within the looming shadow of a high limestone cliff topped by a dense thicket of old-growth trees and a large circular sinkhole, Crater Sink, filled with seemingly bottomless black water. Great potential unrealized, instead morphing into a tale of mundane family feuds, a contemporary bank robbery, child abuse, voyeurism, industrial espionage, and a blurry of never-really-satisfactorily resolved reality vs. paranormal, with a cast of seeming thousands that requires a cast list to keep sorted. I never really had a true sense of what any of it was all about, or why this particular locale seemed to warrant being a meeting place where reality and the supernatural seem so confusingly overlapped. I still love a good tale of ghosts and goblins, but this book isn’t it.

Loved the characters and the twists and turns. The intertwining of stories keep you interested and entertained until the end. Can't wait to read the sequel.
