Night of the Living Thread (Threadville Mystery Series #4) by Janet Bolin

Zombies, killer dresses, and ancient curses prove that Halloween in Threadville can be sew spooky…

It’s early October, and hordes of visitors have descended on the tiny, celebrated village of Threadville, Pennsylvania, to attend a Halloween crafts fair, a zombie retreat, and the wedding of Edna Battersby—dear friend to Willow Vanderling, owner of the chic machine embroidery boutique, In Stitches.

As a friendly prank for Edna’s wedding, Willow and the rest of the Threadville gang have fashioned an overly extravagant hoopskirt, complete with lights and music. But in a bizarre turn of events, the garish gown is implicated in a mysterious lakeside murder.

Now Willow must follow a trail of glow-in-the-dark thread, delve into ancient Egyptian curses, and creep through a haunted graveyard to unearth a killer—before she becomes the next fashion victim…

Night Of The Living Thread is the fourth book in the A Threadville Mystery series. The folks of Threadville are looking forward to the wedding of Edna Battersby to Gord, the Halloween crafts fair, and maybe not so much, A zombie retreat. One evening Willow is out walking her dogs and hears Isis, who is town for the crafts fair, calling Gord's name and uttering a vow to join him in the afterlife and then issuing a curse on Edna. This naturally disturbs Willow as she is good friend with Edna and Gord, in addition Isis is staying with Edna for the fair and is concerned for Edna's safety. Then Willow's mother calls to let her know that Brianna Shevedale, daughter of an important financial backer of Willow's mother, will be arriving soon and she has told Brianna that she can use Willow's as a base while she gets her thread business off the ground. The last thing Willow needs right now is a house quest while she and some of the other shop owners are busy putting the finishing touches on a gag bridal skirt for Edna. Later that night Willow hears the scream of a lady scream "don't push me", when she goes to see what the problem is, the skirt is gone and she sees it floating in the river. Rescue workers recovery it and Isis has been drowned. Isis has alienated almost everyone she has come into contact with. And if Brianna doesn't mend he ways, Willow might put her out of the picture too. Most of the main character of this fun series are back once again. The one thing that does seem to be running smoothly for Willow, is her relationship with Clay. Another enjoyable visit to Threadville and am looking forward to the next.

Zombies, killer dresses, and ancient curses prove that Halloween in Threadville can be sew spooky… Could there possibly be more things going on in Threadville, Pennsylvania? Edna and Gord are getting married, there is a Halloween Craft Fair and don’t forget the Zombie retreat!! If that isn’t enough Willow’s mother has sent her a cranky house guest to stay with her and Edna’s mother is in town for the wedding. There are also some other unique individuals in town for the festivities. Hold on to your sewing machines and knitting needles, this is going to be a crazy week in Threadville!!! Especially when someone ends up dead!! Dollycas’s Thoughts If you know me you know zombies/living dead are not by thing. If anybody was going to get me to read a book witth zombies it would be Janet Bolin. Truthfully these were not the real “walking dead”, the were human alive and mostly well, attending a zombie retreat. They would only make you scream if you ran into them in the dark. Not too scary in the light of day. In addition to the zombies we meet Edna’s mom, Mrs. Batterby. She will grow on you as the story continues. Willow house guest is a whole different story. Willow has the patience of a saint! I would have sent this girl packing after the first night no matter how much guilt my mother foisted upon me. All our favorite characters are back too, Opal, Naomi, Haylee, Clay, Vicki, Tally-Ho and Sally-Forth. They are joined by Mustache and Bow-Tie, 2 frisky felines. The author has written a fantastic story that will have you chasing clues, visiting a haunted graveyard, and finding what glow in the dark thread is all about. She will have you laughing out loud and the last line will again bring a smile to your face. She also has all set for our next visit to Threadville. I can’t wait to make the trip!! I know she has just turned in the manuscript and we have a long wait ahead but these stories are so good they are definitely worth the wait!! She has given us some crafty inspiration to take up some of the time too.
