Mother-Daughter Review We listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Zach McLarty, so our review is based on that version. My Review Today, all my gentle readers get to find out one of my secrets … I am a closet trekkie. Being a lover of the original Star Trek series and a lover of good zombie stories, I thought the two together would be very amusing. This story was a perfect mix of the two. The authors were great the way they snuck in little bits and pieces of different Star Trek trivia into the story. I especially enjoyed the way the trekkies started fighting off the zombies with the different Klingon weapons. The zombies are from a brave new world and they are seeking out new life and new civilizations … oh wait … sorry I slipped for a moment there. The main hero in our story is named Jim (no not James T. Kirk) and he is a closet Trekkie. He is working at a hotel where a Star Trek convention is being held. He was once a military soldier, but now he just wants to sit around and mindlessly do his job. When strange things start happening in his hotel, he can no longer sit back and do nothing. His sister has come to the convention with a bunch of her friends and Jim must find a way to make sure they get out of the hotel alive. If you are a Star Trek fan, I highly recommend this book. It is a ‘must have’ for all Trekkies. If you are not a Star Trek fan, it’s not too late! If you are not a Star Trek fan and don’t want to be one, but you are a zombie fan, you will love how lots of trekkies eaten or turned into zombies. My Rating: 5 Stars … I loved this book! Jasmin’s Review Night of the Living Trekkies was the story about a bellhop that used to be an ex-Military-esque person who, during a Star Trek convention, has his hotel flooded with zombies from outer space. I had to have my mom explain a few references to me, but for the most part I’m enough of a mini-Trekkie myself to understand them. The book was HILARIOUS! I simply adored it and was thrilled when I got to listen to it with my mom when we were in the car. The voices were perfect for every situation and the Star Trek humor just about made be bust a gut laughing in several different places. The ending was great, and I have to say my all time favorite character was ‘Willie Makeit’. 5 out of 5 Stars. May this book live long and prosper. The Narration Review This audiobook was narrated by Zach McLarty and he had a great cast of voices tucked in his trekkie belt. I think he must be a trekkie because he did really well imitating the Klingon voices. It was very enjoyable listening to him telling this Star Trek-Zombie tale.

I grew up watching reruns of Star Trek, but never got into horror movies of the 70's, much less Zombie flicks. Never in a million years would I have thought I'd find a mixing of the two genres so much fun. It is a quick read and has the pacing/storyline of an episode of TOS. It has plenty of Easter eggs throughout and an ending that will surprise you. Overall it is fun, poignant (especially with the protagonists recent past) and just scary enough to make you want to leave one light on before you fall asleep.

If you have ever had a passing fandom of Star Trek, love zombie stories and have seen Star Wars at least once, this book is for you. There are many references throughout, some implied, some a bit more obvious. The only thing this book needs (other than a 2nd book) is perhaps a reference guide in the back for those who may be a few years out of their Trekker phase but who want to appreciate all the references. I really want to see this made into a film with a followup popup dvd/bluray trivia feature.

I don't normally buy books after getting a book from the library to read but I am thinking of buying this one. This book is for any sci fi lover and it is so funny as well. I hope that the authors continue this partenership and bring a sequel to this book. Also if I was them I would look to bring this to the movies as well. Great non-stop read!! You won't be able to put it down.

If you love Star Trek, read this book. If you love zombies from outer space, read this book. If you love Star Wars, read this book. If you hate any of the above don't let that stop you from reading this book. Weaving together motifs from X-Files, Night of the Living Dead, as well as Trek and Wars, this is a fun romp through several genres that does not disappoint. The characters are believable, the "science" behind the zombies is borderline, and the action is totally non-stop. The fact that the main hero carries the first and last names of two iconic captains of the USS Enterprise is no mistake. The fact that the chapter titles are episode titles is no mistake. The references to so many characters and events in all of the various Treks is no mistake. The Star Wars references add an element sure to rile some and please others. One thing I will say, I doubt there is anyone on the Third Rock From The Sun who doesn't know the answer to the "Beam me up, Scotty" trivia question. So, whether you're a Trekkie, a Trekker, a fanboy, or just an enthusiast like me, read this book.

When I first saw this book in the store I knew that I had to buy it. The concept of a zombie outbreak at a Star Trek convention is pure genius, absolutely original. The cover of this book alone was enough to intrigue me into picking it up and once I started reading I was not disappointed. A recommended read for fans of either Star Trek or zombies. A must read for those who are fans of both.

Quite possibly the best zombie mashup on the market--wonderfully dark with just the right amount of humor
