Okay, I happen to love this series for its characters and the protagonist's wonderful voice. That said, Night Shift provides a nice change from most cozy mysteries by placing the hero, Kate, in direct danger. Dube has a great sense of place and character that will keep me coming back to Mendenhall as often as she'll write new stories.

After reading so many short stories that were rotten, it was refreshing to read one that is actually a complete story!

Why dont these authors go just a little more into the story? Or at least tell you it it is a short story or a novelle. Would it hurt to say "this is a short story or this is o novella" it was good but a description would have helped. Bbut. Think you for the free read!

Liked the sense of place and the character voice. Really gets you into a unique atmosphere with a heroine so likable you don't really care as much about the specific crime she's solving; you just want to go along for the ride.
