This is a fascinating read! It's very different from what we have come to expect from this author but intriguing nonetheless. This is well written with very complex characters and you will find yourself turning page after page to find out what happens next! What happens when a contract killer falls in love with the wholesome shy girl next door, hmmm?? The lies and deception continue as the romance between Everly and Roman grows. This book is filled with mystery, suspense, and plenty of hot times as Roman works to keep Everly safe. I recommend this!

Nikolai by Marquita Valentine is the first book in her The Romanovs series. In this story we meet Nikolai Romanov, an undercover Russian contract killer, who poses as Roman, the owner of a bookstore. Everly Andrews visits the bookstore every day as she has a crush on Roman. These two are obviously attracted to each other but life seems to throw obstacles into their romantic path. Roman has a number of secrets he must keep from Everly, as is the case of any good suspense story. This first book ends with Roman asking Everly to join him on a trip to visit his “sick” grandfather. Ms. Valentine created a wonderful story, with characters that not only demonstrate compassion and empathy but also a depth to their feelings. This book exemplifies Valentine’s creativity, as well as her outstanding writing ability. I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. I highly recommend this book to other readers. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, Benjamin, to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I always enjoy Marquita Valentine's books, they are sweet & sassy & sexy. I would have to say this is one of my favorites. Ms. Valentine has jumped into the Romantic Suspense genre will both feet & she's come up smelling like roses (to mix my metaphors)!!!! And I love that she has included some characters that her loyal fans will recognize, as well. This book has tons of intrigue, a decent amount of violence, as well as some very sexy love scenes. A great start to what looks to be another fantastic series!!!! Can't wait for more!!!!

What do you get when you mix a bookseller by day/assassin by night and a southern belle? You get a wonderful, sexy, thrilling, and totally enthralling book. The seller is really a serial killer and his bookstore is a front and Everly stumbled upon the "store" and now is intrigued and she is not going away. She finds him after he has been shot and rescues him. What follows is fast paced and definitely a fun ride. This is a must read!
