Even if you know that there is no legal problem with your proposed plans and that you have met the local ordinances, fighting a NIMBY movement with guns blazing can still tear a community apart, create expensive legal battles, and hurt the chances for completing a successful project. Political maneuvering is the driving force in many communities. Win the battle by navigating community politics, and you'll be in a better position for approval.
NIMBYism delivers the insights and field-tested steps necessary for you to battle local opposition, build community support, successfully manage confrontation during hearings and court battles, and how to use effective communication to avoid a confrontational NIMBY movement entirely. You'll even learn how to appreciate opposing points of view and how to convert opponents into partners.

I found this book at the PCBC trade show in San Francisco. This new book on the 'Nimby' problem does an excellent job of non-technical explanations. Shows by many examples that Nimbys act out of fear and the solution is to disclose and explain. Nicely done! Must read for developers, builders, planners, and anyone fearful of development in their town.
