This book combines fun, humor, mytery, intrigue, secret codes, and non-fiction information to tell the story of Alec Flint, Super Sleuth (in training) and his friends, and how they solved their mystery. I read this book to my class, and they loved it! As I read it, they used the clues to try to solve the mystery. They loved the secrect code, and even began writing messages to each other using their own codes! The information Jill Santopolo provides about Christopher Columbus, is new and interesting. It is a great read aloud for younger children, and a perfect chapter book for children in grades 3-5. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more Alec Flint stories!
