This summer I read the Book Niner. Niner, by Theresa Martin Golding, is a book about a 12 year girl, Macey McCallister - classmates call her Niner who grows up in Philadelphia with her 11 year old sister and adoptive father. In the story Macey s missing a lot of things like her thumb, her birth parents, her history, and now her adoptive mother has disappeared as well. Macey's mother left a year ago saying she would come back but never did. In the story Macey ¿nds a locket on her front lawn and is convinced that ir is a sign from her mother saying she would be home soon. After she takes the locket she discovers that a man has been stalking her. Macey thinks the man wants the locket, but what he really wants is the money he hid in her property thinking that MCey took it. Over the course of a few days the man continues to threaten Macey, her sister, and her friends, but they refuse to tell Macey's father. Throughout the story Macey faces a runaway friend, drug dealers, ¿ghts, and the thoughts of why her biological mother didn't want her and why her adoptive mother never came back. When Macey's sister ends up in the hospital she ¿nds out the truth about her history from her father and battles the death of a close friend. In the end Macey discovers that no matter what genes she has she is in the family she belongs to. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. I would rate this book a 10 out of 10 for being very interesting and exciting.
