When expectations are high, money is tight, love is tainted and stress is ubiquitous, the citizens of Chase County will do anything to make sure they survive. From the deconstruction of a town to frivolous intercourse with strangers, No-Injury Policy explores the dark depths of human nature when social pressures peak. No sooner than the meek taste retribution, however, they encounter the demons that have aided authority figures to the top - demons that refuse to lose control no matter what it takes.

Bjensen here. B&N wouldn't let me use my name for some reason. So ........ this was actually a blind-buy for me. I needed another book for free shipping and this was on the same page. I'm pretty impressed, though. Good blindbuy for me. A  lot of short story books aren't  satisfactory for readers, but I found myself burning through the pages of this book and liking most of the stories. Beautiful Things (might be the wrong title. books in the car.), Last Stop, and No-Injury Policy were definitely cool stories. I never heard of Mr Humphries until now. Wish his other book was in paperback, though. Anywho, definitely a good out of nowhere collection.
