No Place Like Rome: A Lexi Carmichael Mystery, Book Three by Julie Moffett

Just another week in the life of geek-girl Lexi Carmichael

Italy might seem like a long way to go to hide after a disastrous date. But when sexy Ÿberhacker Slash (no, that’s not his real name) asks me to go with him to Rome on an investigation, the timing is sort of perfect. My messed-up love life becomes the least of my worries, though, after the dead body, the near-kidnapping and the discovery of a top secret encrypted file that even I can’t hack.

With time running out, there’s only one thing to do: call in the legendary Zimmerman twins and my best fluent-in-Italian friend, Basia, to crack the code. Now if only someone could help me solve the mystery of whether Slash is flirting, or if all the kissing is just one of those “when in Rome” things…

But when we finally uncover the secret someone would kill to keep, it’s up to me to solve the case and save the lives of my best friends.

I absolutely loved No Place Like Rome. This series falls between thrillers and cozy mysteries. Each book has lots of twists, turns, and danger, but there is a personal feel and enough humor to lower the tension level. Oh, yes and sizzle. There is no telling where that sizzle will eventually go but it does add to the stories. I love the characters!!! Slash hires X-Corp to prove that his uncle did not still 18 million Euro's from the Vatican bank so Lexi travels with him to Rome to help track down the hacker to used his uncle's information to transfer the funds. They soon learn that there is more behind the theft than just missing money. As always the plot is complex and exciting and where it leads is no where that I would have predicted!

This is the fourth Lexi Carmichael mystery I've read, and it is, by far, the best. The characterizations are fuller, more vibrant, and the action is more exciting and compelling. A terrific ending, whetting the appetite for more. Can't wait to start on number 5!

What a great way to learn more about Slash by visiting his background. Great nailbiter scenes that leave you wondering who will come out alive.

This was the first Lexi Carmichael Mystery I've read and I really enjoyed it. It was great as a standalone book as the author does a great job of introducing new readers to the characters. The book was hard to put down and I read it faster than expected. I loved Lexi. She's funny, geeky, and an all around great character. If you love mysteries with female leads, I highly recommend No Place Like Rome.

I read the three books, and they are all equally thrilling, totally page turners. Full of mystery action pack, intrigue, romance. Love the characters , especially Slash , Lexi and the twins. Finn is also ok,but a little wimpy to my taste. I Ilike strong personality. I was hoping to see Slash and Lexy 's relationship progress to the next level. But it didn't pan out . Hopefully there's more of them in the next chapter. Also, I laughed a lot reading Lexy's thought. Funny.
