It’s been a while since I’ve read a MMF book, and I admit the only reason I picked this one up was because I needed to find out more about Gar and Faolan, from book one. I will also be the first to admit that my dislike of MMF is mainly because both “M’s” tend to put the “F” on a pedestal and make her the focal point of the relationship. That happened in most MMF books I’ve read and is the reason I’ve stopped reading them. Well, imagine my surprise, and delight, when Mace is the odd man (er, woman) out. I loved that Alec and Byron had the history, and the love, and that they very much could have existed as a couple without Mace. Granted, they both wanted her, but just knowing she was not the glue that bound them together revived my hope that authors will revisit how they portray MMF novels. Alec and Byron are both bisexual and were a committed couple until Alec up and disappeared. Byron became a bounty hunter to assist in his search for answers. Alec and Mace meet up when she begins to work for him, as a scientist, to find a cure for the virus that is killing Faolan…and that is why I had to read this book. I loved meeting up with Gar and Faolan again. Seeing Faolan’s health failing and watching the devastation that had on Gar was just heartbreaking. I am happy to say, it took awhile, and got really close at the end, but when that cure was found, I was very relieved. There came a time when authors didn’t kill off main characters, but lately, I’ve read some books that blindsided me so I no longer assume, nor take anything for granted. So, yeah, I have to say this will surprise quite a few people that I am wholeheartedly recommending this book, and this series. It has three of my least favorite themes: BDSM, MMF and Sci-Fi…and I liked it anyway….go figure! Don’t judge, just read it!
