Since her release from the psychiatric facility and into the smothering guardianship of her aunt, twenty-one-year-old psychic Tatum Torabi has been sneaking away to sell curses and plagues in the underground, a black market known for illegal and supernatural wares.
Tatum’s unique abilities catch the attention of a hella-creepy trash peddler who offers her a job tracking down people who owe his boss “a favor.” She couldn’t be less interested, but when she refuses, the company forces her compliance by threatening the lives of the only family she has left.
Because tracking barely scratches the surface of what they really want from her. There’s a reason Tatum is so good at making curses, and they want her to use those skills for a much darker purpose.

A bit of darkness, touches of magic and tons of action make this an exciting read the whole way through. Tatum has had a bit of a troubled past and wants nothing more than to finally have her independence. So she bends the rules where she can, and soon finds herself in tons more trouble than she ever bargained with. Tatum isn't always well-behaved, but she has the best intentions and a heart of gold. She's a true heroine, one which simply has a few sharp edges and corners, and makes a couple of mistakes. And that's what makes her so likable. Her decisions are usually spot on, and she knows how to get herself out of sticky situations. She has some inner devils to defeat as well, and finds herself not only up against some dangerous characters but must come to terms with her own talents, past and present. There's so much magic, suspicious characters, dark shadows and layers of mystery along the way, which make each page fun to read. The action never stops as she runs head long from one problem into the next, and does her best to battle her way through. The scenes are filled with fantasy and details, bringing even the smells and sounds to life. Especially the underground marketplace was a real treat to visit. Urban fantasy and paranormal fans who love strong female characters and tons of action will enjoy this quick paced read. The only disappointment is that the story has a last page, and I would have loved to spend more time with Tatum and her friends. I received a complimentary copy and loved reading this so much that I wanted to leave my thoughts.
No Rest for the Wicked has the kind of book blurb I can’t resist. Psychics selling curses in underground black markets, dark pasts, tough choices, just reading the blurb I wanted to read the book. I did enjoy the story, but I didn’t fall in love with it. I wasn’t always too fond of the writing nor the characters. I did like Tatum, though. She suffered through a horrible past, but she didn’t let it stop her. She was strong, fierce, and while not fond of her abilities at the start, she confronted her demons and learned to embrace her powers. I also liked the mysteries surrounding the past, and was eager to figure out what happened. My favorite parts were the parts set in the underground market, where Tatum sells curses. I thought that was an original and clever thought, and I wouldn’t have minded to spend some more time down there, exploring the different booths and who had what to sell. But what troubled me a little was how many characters there were. Everything seemed to be going on all at once, and all the characters seemed busy doing so many things, it was difficult to keep track of who was doing what and what everyone was up to. The storyline also had a lot of coincidences – a few I can take, but this was just a little too coincidental for my liking. I also didn’t like Emmerick. I felt the relationship between himand Tatum was forced, and he was just too perfect. He didn’t have any flaws, or very little flaws, and I couldn’t relate to him. The writing was pretty engaging overall, but felt a little sloppy at parts. Overall, it’s an enjoyable, entertaining book fans of paranormal fantasy with a hint of romance will enjoy. It’s also the author’s debut book, and it’s a pretty solid debut. I look forward to what the author has in store next. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was utterly amazed by this new author, one I had not heard of before, but that will definitely be on my "must-read" list from now on. This was a wonderful book, with interesting and unique characters that just grabbed me. I stand in awe of the fact that a new author can write a book that's so flawless in every way - from the beautiful cover, to the fascinating plot, to the believable and smooth-flowing dialogue, to the final, perfect ending - it's just astonishing. I'm not sure if the author plans more books with these characters, but I certainly hope so. If not, that's okay too, because no matter what she writes, I'm sure it will be just as compelling and mesmerizing as this one was. **I received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the first book I've read by this author, and her writing is wonderful. If you are a fan of supernatural literature and urban fantasy, then you should definitely check this book out.
