No Werewolves Allowed (Night Tracker Series #2) by Cheyenne McCray

New York Times bestselling author Cheyenne McCray takes her red-hot Night Tracker series from the mean streets to the winding country roads—where the nights are darker, and a full moon casts an even greater shadow…

As a half-human, half-Drow private eye, Nyx is the go-to girl for tracking Demons in the night. So when several of New York City’s Werewolves go missing, Alpha Werewolf Dmitri Beketov hires Nyx for the job. But this time, she must leave the dark alleys and bright lights behind…

NO WEREWOLVES ALLOWED

Nyx’s sixth sense tells her that life in the slow lane is a lot deadlier than it appears. Though she usually prefers to work solo, with this case she’s going to need all the help she can get. Enter Detective Adam Boyd: he’s watching her back, but is this human too sexy for his—and her—own good? Meanwhile, a powerful, malevolent force is exterminating paranorms and “unworthy” humans alike…and Nyx, still trying to get a foothold in her new surroundings, finds herself facing danger at every turn.

“The hot new Night Tracker series promises plenty of thrills and chills…and sexy sizzle.”

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cheyenne McCray writes the Night Tracker novels and the Armed and Dangerous series, among others. She grew up on a ranch in southeastern Arizona. She has been writing ever since she can remember, back to her kindergarten days when she penned her first poem. She always knew one day she would write novels—she wanted to create worlds that readers would get lost in, just as she had always gotten lost in her favorite books. “Growing up I read, read, and read,” she says, “and grew up to write, write, write.” She has three sons and two dogs. A true Arizona native, she loves the desert and all of the sunshine and beautiful sunsets that go along with it.

This the second book in the Night Tracker series, was full of action, romance, and frightening situations filled with cruelty and torture. I really enjoyed the plot for this book and how we are learning more about the paranorms with ever passing novel. Nyx is still the main focus of this book and I was fine with that I like her characters no nonsense attitude and kick ass solutions to her problems. We find out in this book if she is able to fix how her relationship with Adam ended in the first book. We are privy to more information about Nyx's abilities, and we learn about some of the other trackers abilities as well. This story was a little hard to swallow at times only because it's about werewolves who are being abducted and some of the abducted were's are children. Reading about anything horrible happening to children difficult and I usually try to steer clear of stories where children are abused. Besides the children being involved it was a great story. Fast paced action, steamy romance, and a lot of awesome fight scenes. I think anyone who likes paranormal romance would get sucked into this story and not give up until it was done. If you haven't read any of this author's books I highly recommend you check her out.

I am greatly enjoying this series by an author new to me. The only negative that I have is that her interaction between Nyx and Adam just smacks of adolescence. Like someone who has not truly had deeply emotional experiences in life, though some great sex and intimate hijinks. Aside from that one disappointment, I am loving the books, and have encouraged friends to give them a read. A nice twist to have added to the paranormal literary gene pool.
