This book is everything I hoped for and much more, the personal stories make the book a great read. Then there are the recipe's which have produced some fabulous meals. Finally there is the restaurant success which just once again shows that in America anyone willing to work hard, take a little risk can do magical things !

There are hundreds (thousands?!) of Italian cookbooks in print, each with sections mirroring this cookbook's from appetizers to desserts. However, life stories of Italian grandmothers are a rarer read. That is what we get in most of the memoirs sections about the grandmothers who cook at Enoteca Maria (named for the restaurateur's grandmother), life stories of real personalities, real people. These stories help add another “flavor” to the recipes in this book. It helps to know that the recipes were created with love, the same love you will share when you place these meals on your dinner table. My favorite so far is the Married Soup and the Warm Seafood Salad. Love them both! Also, do you know the difference between baking soda and baking powder? Or how long raw eggs will last in your refrigerator? What is “resting time?” What is the proper temperature to cook chicken? Then, I recommend that you buy a copy of “Conquer Your Kitchen” from Chef Jai Scovers. In “Conquer Your Kitchen,” Chef Jai Scovers will show you how to eat healthier and still provide wholesome meals that your entire family will love. Best of all, it is on sale right now here on BN.
