Fast forward five years, Emmalynne thinks she is broken, not only emotionally but physically as well, so her confidence was severely lacking. Being a single mother to her son, Tucker, as well as an owner of a small town Bookstore, she does everything she can to keep men at arms-length, not thinking she is worthy anymore with her plus-sized body and scars.
Taking it upon themselves, Emmalynne's best friends, Toby and Tessa make it their mission to bring her out of her tight-knitted comfort zone. That is when she locks eyes on the male perfection that is Grady.
Grady Finnegan was the gorgeous new guy in town. Recently injured and discharged from the Army, Grady comes to his Uncle's aid in helping manage the family bar. Not being anywhere near innocent when it comes to women, Grady meets Emmalynne and he knows one thing, that he wants her.
Sparks fly and passion ignites, but will that be enough? Not ready to lay her heart on the line, Emmalynne guards it as best she can and ultimately fails. When chaos erupts and Grady's past comes back to haunt him, it leaves Emmalynne's already broken heart, shattered.
Will past circumstances prevent Emmalynne from having the future she deserves? Or can Grady help her follow her heart and show her that she is Not Alone.

About the Author
I was born and raised in Southern Indiana, but resided in Texas for five years while my husband was in the US Army. It was definitely a journey, but I am so glad to be back in my home state.
Whenever I'm not doing my motherly duties or at the soccer field I absolutely love to read whenever I have a moment to spare. My kindle is never far from my side.
My love of reading increased about a year ago and due to my love of books I decided to try my hand at writing.
Already having a set of characters in my head screaming to get out, I started writing my first book titled 'Not Alone.'

After a slow start this story picks up. So many things I like about it. It is sweet and innocent as well as real down and dirty. It is funny, tongue in cheek and my favorite part is the use of the F word! Read this series
We start out with Emmalynne who married her high school sweetheart but has become very unhappy in the marriage. Bryce has become a horrible person and verbally abusive. She had decided she isn't putting up with it anymore when they were in an accident and Bryce died. We then go 5 years later when she had opened a book shop where she spent a lot of her time - other than the time spent with her son, Tucker. She has not let any man get close to her because she doesn't want the pain this could cause her. This is working well for her until Grady comes to town to take over his uncle’s bar. She thinks is he gorgeous so would never be interested in her. Since the bar is Grady's main focus so he is not really looking for a woman. But once he sees Emmalynn he changes his mind about that. He sees she is special and is instantly attracted to her, then can't stop thinking about her. Emmalynn has a very poor self image thanks to her ex. She doesn't think she is worth loving and thinks she is unattractive because of her weight. Grady is determined to prove her wrong about those thoughts. The push and pull in this couple's relationship is really well written. Amber taps into the human aspect of her characters, the way we all relate to small elements, chances encounters, and life happenings. The characters were very real and believable. Even the secondary characters Tessa, Toby and Tucker were perfectly developed and added fun to the story. This book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the story line, but that wouldn't work if she didn't have good characters. This had such a good HEA that it left me crying - happy tears. I loved Not Alone and highly recommend it.
Not Alone by Amber Nation is just such a sweet little love story. Yes, there are some anxious moments, even tear jerkers, but basically, Emmalynne Morgan feels like she is not worthy. It takes a very special out-of-towner, Grady Finnegan, to show her otherwise. The HEA in this book is well written and well deserved. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
I was given a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion. I was so happy to read this book where there was a woman who seemed to be “real”, someone who wasn’t skinny and had a great body, someone I could identify with. The beginning of the book sets the tone for Emmy, it was that page that you keep flipping too so you can remember what happened previously. You knew she was damaged and the prologue let you know how that came to be. Emmy became a strong and independent woman who was extremely insecure about herself. She knew she was good at certain things but was constantly putting herself down even when she was told by her family and friends how amazing she was. Her interactions with Toby and Tessa were awesome. They all three cracked me up and were highly entertaining. Especially when Grady was introduced to them. Grady is also scarred and has a past that at times he would love to forget. Coming to Georgia to start over and to take over for his Uncle Mac when he retires seemed like the best idea for him. He knew that was the best decision he ever made when he saw Emmalynne. Watching their story and all the twists and turns the book itself took was great! I really want the secondary characters to get their own books as well. I want to see who Toby and Charlie end up with. This book had some issues with grammar and mixing up of names but other than that it was a very enjoyable read. I would give it a 4/5
