Not Another Teen Movie ruthlessly parodies teen flicks from the past 20 years, but the soundtrack offers a more heartfelt -- or at least less tongue-in-cheek -- appreciation of the music that made the '80s teen flick a genre unto itself. Alt-rock superstars try their hand at new wave touchstones, from Depeche Mode -- represented by Smashing Pumpkins' ruminative, swirling guitar version of "Never Let Me Down Again" and Stone Temple Pilot Scott Weiland's lush rendition of "But Not Tonight"-- to New Order, saluted by Orgy's previously released aggro-rock reading of "Blue Monday" and Stabbing Westward's melodic, guitar-driven "Bizarre Love Triangle," sprinkled with chiming glockenspiel. Other '80s artists who get their props are Nena (Goldfinger's ska-flavored "99 Red Balloons," complete with the original German lyrics), Modern English (Mest's "I Melt with You"), and Soft Cell (Marilyn Manson's creepy industrial-rock "Tainted Love"). Fans of the Pretty in Pink soundtrack will be pleasantly surprised by Good Charlotte's pop-punk take on O.M.D. ("If You Leave") and Muse's churning homage to the Smiths ("Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want"). Tying up all this plundering of teen pop culture is Phantom Planet (featuring Rushmore's Jason Schwartzman) delivering a harmony-soaked cover of Jackson Browne's "Somebody's Baby" (originally found on the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack).

i'm not Really happy about it because it doesn't have rebel girl or the song in the scene where the cheerleader is walking through the hall shoving everyone out of the way to talk to Jake.
i loved this movie, its hilarious, & the soundtrack rocks, but what annoys me is that it doesnt have all the songs from Good Charlotte that they perform in the movie. i love If You Leave, but what about Put Your Head on My Shoulder, & I Want Candy??? all in all, its a good soundtrack though...
Lets just say this soundtrack is awesome for everyone who loves hard rock and 80's music. I have to say that the best song from this soundtrack is Bizare Love Triangle by STABBING WESTWARD
The songs and groups on this soundtrack combine to form a slightly eighties-inspired sentimental punk alternative sound. This is the kind of cd you'll put on repeat and relax to. Though it starts with Marilyn Manson and Orgy, it cools down to include more fun tracks like (my favorite) 99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger. I highly recommend this soundtrack.
I found this by mistake, searching for rare Smashing Pumpkins songs on Kazaa, and found Never Let Me Down Again from this soundtrack. I've not really heard much about this movie, and I don't like any of the other singers on it as far as I see, but honestly, this is one of my favorite Pumpkins songs. I love them all, but I have a few that make me happier than others.
The only track that i like in this is tainted love by marilyn manson. The only other track that is good isn't on the soundtrack !! I've had to check the credits at the end to note all the music and finally i found it ! It's the music who play when Priscilla walk in the hall in the beginning : Imperial Teen - Yoo Hoo Hope this help some people to find it ;)
Just saw the movie. Its freaking hilarious. I'm buying this CD. The strange thing is that I despised most of these songs when they came out in the 80's but they sounded excellent in the movie.
