Great read about Joe Sandilands of Scotland Yard and the school boy that might be his son from 20 years past. And how meeting this young man helps uncover mysterious disappearance of young boys and solve a murder. And very interesting for me to read about the 1920' England

Once again, Barbara Cleverly has written a good Sandilands series book. I enjoy the references to his past experiences in India. I've read a number of books in this series and they are always interesting and enjoyable reading.

Once again Barbara Cleverly has written a interesting as well as entertaining book. If you are a fan of Joe Sandilands this is a must read. If you are not a reader of hers, this is a good place to start.

Dectective Joe Sandilands past catches up with him when he is contacted by a young school boy who just might be his son, and who might have killed his school master. Characters from earlier books show up, including the young boy's mother met during Det. Sandiland's sojourn in India. as he begins to investigate the school master's murder, Det. Sandilands discovers other boys have gone missing from the school over the years. This book is set between the two world wars and foreshadows the rise of the Nazis and their policy of ethnic cleansing with chilling accuracy. The mystery is well written and has several twists and turns. Det. Sandilands is an interesting and likeable character and the history of the time leading up to WWII is fascinating. I highly recommend the book.

Joe Sandilands has recently been promoted at Scotland Yard, London, when he discovers a link to his past has come back to him on two legs. He works hard in this novel to get to the bottom of a mystery that may be generations old. I loved reading this novel set in the past. The writing is beautiful, yet full of the right amount of suspense.
