Okay, so different characters, but same story. Using the one you love to get what you want. I was really looking forward to Gabriel's story since he was first mention in Drive Me Crazy, he just sounded so sweet and sexy. Don't get me wrong, he really was sweet and sexy, except he was such a chump as well. He totally let Summer take advantage of him, but I guess it was the 'do gooder' in him. He just had to help everyone. I still liked his character, I guess I just wanted him to man up and grow a pair when it came to Summer. Summer...she was frustrating as hell. Talk about a woman with the lowest self esteem ever! I felt so horrible because of the circumstances that set her onto the path she was on, no female deserves that, but she had family and friends who did care for her and she still did her damndest to push them away...her feelings were all over the place. She needed some serious therapy or she needed to put her big girl undies on, put her chin up and tell everyone who spread vicious rumors about her to go f*ck themselves and that included Elise...innocent librarian my ass! Gabriel should have called her bluff and let her leave instead of begging her to stay but as per the norm and repetition in this series that didn't happen and we see quick forgiveness and so forth, this time the roles were reversed though...that's the only difference... After reading the Epilogue of this book and the synopsis for the next book in this series, I know its going along the same exact path of the previous books, marriage of convenience, with great sex, lots of hurt, eventual but rapid forgiveness and then happily ever after so I think I'll pass on it... Oh, Gabriel! A sexy, virgin hero who loves unconditionally and has a heart of gold? * swoons * I had my doubts about this book, even from the very beginning of the series. After all, Summer has a bit of a . . . prickly personality, and a very complicated back story. Life dealt her a bad hand and rumors and jealous people made it even worse. The glimpse of Summer in the past books didn't allow me a chance to connect with her, to understand her. But Not Over You changed that. Valentine showed the real Summer in this one, and before long I wanted to be her friend, too, to help her to see what she's worth. Okay, and perhaps to steal Gabriel away from her . . . Sssh! The chemistry between these two is very potent, but so is the love. Not Over You was very sexy, but also touching, especially when they finally got together. It's no secret: I'm a HUGE fan of Marquita Valentine, and I've been closely following/stalking her every book since her debut. With each new release, I am always reminded of how much I love this author, of how talented she is. I'm happy, even now, that I picked up that first book, and I'm always anxious for her next one. A writer of sexy, sweet, and very addicting romances, with heart and heat, Valentine is a must read author! 4 ½ STARS! ~ * ~ * ~ For other reviews, including favorite book quotes, please visit my blog, TBQ's Book Palace. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. TheBookQueen

Not Over You by Marquita Valentine is very beautiful tale. A difficult childhood and adolescence have left their marks on Summer Holland. The one time she desperately needed her best friend and first love to believe in her was the one time he failed her. She has never forgiven him. Gabriel Edwards has always loved Summer. He let her down once in the most uinforgivable way and he's been doing everything he can to make it up to her ever since. It's cost him along the way, dropping everything and everyone when she needs him, but it's Summer and there is no other way he would be. Despite my OCD like need to read every book in a series, even if they can be standalone novels, I managed to dive right into this one and not get to itchy about not having reast the previous seven novels/novellas. There's a VERY slight mystical flavor to the story. Summers sister Rose owns an apothecary and has The Sight. Summer is also very much at one with nature. It's such a beautiful tale. Heart beaking and uplifting at the same time. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series (in order of course).

I loved this book just as much as the rest of the series. Marquita Valentine is a great writer, you can't help but hope her characters end up together and happy. Can't wait for the next book.

Heart wrenching story of a woman finding her self- worth and the man who's willing to do anything for her to see it. This is my first book out of the Holland Springs series and I ABSOLUTELY love it. I am so glad that this is my first read opening the year.  I feel deeply connected to Summer while reading the story-- her not so beautiful journey of finding the value of herself against of what people thought of her and her family in Holland Springs. My heart clenched every time she pulled her wall up with Gabriel and pretended that she is what people think she is. I adored Gabriel's character. His love and determination to show Summer of how worthy she is of love is admirable. When he said he's never letting go of Summer again, he didn't.  One element I also loved the most about the story are the minor characters. Jemma Leigh, Isabella and Gabriel's parents played  major parts in building Summer and Gabriel's story. Their good judgment of the situations, their forgiveness and upright individualities will make them one of my favorite supporting characters yet. Marquita Valentine pictured a great representation of love in all aspects--- family, friendship and special relationships. This story might be my first of the series but it won't be the last. I am definitely itching to buy all Holland Springs series after Not Over You.
