The chasm between Christianity and Islam is too vast an area and therefore,Robert Spencer's book,'Not peace but a sword',doesn't do full justice for it,even though the book is not at all a small one.(It is about 250 pages)But the book is enlightening, particularly for those who dwell in fantasy after having lapped up the fairy tales unifying Christianity and Islam. If the religion preached by Jesus Christ and other Biblical prophets had been Islam as claimed by Islam and it's Prophet, then Islam should have exhorted the Jews and the Christians to follow everything in the Koran minus the obeisance to Prophet Muhammad.Instead, the Jews and the Christians should have been given the full freedom to evoke the names of their respective prophets. But the First principle of Islam is:“There is no god but Allah is his Prophet.”If Islam is the religion which was taught by Jesus and other prophets, then why should Muhammad alone find supreme importance and pre-eminence but all the other prophets superannuated?this point has not been raised by Robert Spencer nor by anybody who has dealt this suject.(Atleast to my knowledge)Robert Spencer should come out with an exhaustive 2 volume tome leaving no stone unturned. This is direly needed because, amongst both Christians and non-Muslim non-Christians,the idea that Christianity and Islam are just branches of the same tree,is widely prevalent. And this incorrect notion is being further strengthened by disingenuous Christians and Taqqiya practising Muslims.Iam a Hindu and Iam writing from India, where the Hindus share the same notion about the two so called Abrahamic religions. And there are Hindu groups that deliberately cultivate this notion.I have no fascination for Christianity. But I feel that the facts and truths about Christianity should be laid bare.I hope that Robert Spencer or somebody comes out with what I have asked for.

In “Not Peace but a Sword” Robert Spencer does a great job at explaining why Islam and Christianity are not compatible. Instead of focusing on current events he instead focuses on Christian and Muslim writings and scriptures. He also does a great job at citing his resources. Spencer argues that the modern day approach of focusing on similarities while ignoring differences will not work in this case. This is a must read for any Christian or Muslim who has an interest in Christian Muslim relations. While the book can apply to all Christianity it is written from a Catholic perspective.
