so do the Proclaimers! The lads are known for one thing...making ears happy. It is easy to lose the depth of meaning in the lyrics because you get caught up in the melodies here. Anyone over 40 will be able to relate to Shadows Fall. It is a gripping song about the struggles we all face as we make our way through life. If you just listen to the melody, though, you could almost mistake this for a lullaby. And, while unbridled optimism has never been a trait of Craig and Charlie's music, the song Love Can Move Mountains is inspiration at it's best. This isn't an album I would have embraced when I was in my 20's, but, then again, it's not an album that the Proclaimers would have put together when they were in theirs. There's a depth of experience here that you will truly appreciate.
There are two CDs in this collection. The first is the in-studio version and I repeatedly listen to about half of the songs which are really an enjoyment to hear and sing along with. The title song is fabulous and my kids and I turn it up loud and belt it out! The second CD has an acoustic first half which is lovely and covers some of the songs from the first CD while the second half is just a blast as it was recorded live at the Edinburgh concert. It's like being at a pub everytime I listen to it ... just a lot of fun!
