Nothing But Trouble by Ashley Bostock

Billionaire CEO Michael Vilander needed just one date. Creating a fake profile on his own matchmaking website may not have been his brightest move. But then Sophia Baldwin's arresting face pops up on his CHAT NOW feature. Not only is she gorgeous, but after spending half the night exchanging messages with her, he finds her to be naive, innocent and way too sexy.

Twenty-four-year-old Sophia Baldwin is barely able to make ends meet. Caring for her sick grandmother prevents her from having a normal life-aspirations of attending college full-time to become a nurse are on the back burner-but then she meets the charming and dazzling Clint on an online dating site. When he asks her to the Denver Arts Foundation's Annual Valentine's Day Gala, she's confident things are looking up.

Once Sophia learns that her hot date is none other than website mogul Michael Vilander, she's definitely not mentioning her night job. What's a lie by omission anyway? After all, it's only one date...Until Michael's ex flaunts her fancy engagement ring in Michael's face and something compels Sophia to announce her and Michael's engagement. AKA, fake engagement. They agree on one month to pretend they're in love before all bets are off.

Pretending to be in love with a sweet and sexy billionaire, but not actually falling in love, ahem, how hard could it be?

5 Hearty Stars Review by Angelique Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog “I have a feeling you will change your mind. And when you do, I will be back to hike your pretty little ass over my shoulder and carry you out of this place.” A sweet and little heart-warming story, of a woman just trying to survive and do what she can and a man who is on top of the world with a tainted view on what it takes to be happy and how they manage to affect each other in the most unexpected way, comes to life in Ashley Bostock's latest novel, Nothing But Trouble, the first book of the Irresistible Billionaires series. She captures the essence of unconditional love so perfectly and how easily a cruel person can ruin something beautiful. We meet Sophia, a quiet and withdrawn woman, who focuses her life around her ill grandmother who she loves more than life itself. She does what she can to both follow her dream of becoming a nurse and at the same time to make sure her grandmother is taken care of. Deciding to accept a nearly complete stranger, who she just met online, and his request to be his date for one night to a gala on Valentine’s Day, she doesn’t expect much, but of course her life is thrown a little of it’s axis when she finally meets the handsome stranger. Michael Vilander is a self made billionaire, the fact that he’s a rich man because of a dating website, doesn’t in any sense of the word, help him find a decent date for the fundraising gala that is quickly approaching. Deciding to try his hand on his own website he stumbles on a sweet smiling woman just as he was about to log off and give up on any successful candidate. After spending hours chatting, she eventually agrees to be his date. The story starts off a little slow but it gets more exciting as you move on. There are particularly sweet and hopeful moments where you smile along with the characters and moments when you feel like shouting in frustration. It’s a romantic little novel that is sure to make you go a little crazy at times, but mostly just sweet enough to keep you drawn in.

Not having read any other books by the author before, I was immediately intrigued by the cover and the synopsis. Nothing But Trouble is the first book in the Irresistible Billionaires series and it follows the story of Michael Vilander and Sophia Baldwin. As found and CEO of the largest matchmaking website in the world, Michael has been able to enjoy his billionaire live as a bachelor to the fullest. At thirty-six, he knows what he wants and what he doesn’t. He doesn’t want to be in a serious relationship and he has never had trouble finding women to spend a good time with. But that all changes when he needs an urgent date for the Denver Art Foundation gala. As one of its biggest donors, he is expected to show up with a date and not just anyone would work. But just when he is ready to go by himself, he comes ups an idea and fakes his online profile just to score a date. But he wasn’t expecting to meet Sarah Baldwin and have his life change forever. Now the more time they spend together, the more he wants to start a relationship with her, something that he didn’t want before. He’ll just have to convince her that he may just be her forever before it’s too late. At twenty-four, Sophia Baldwin is ready to take on the world just like anyone her age. But her life has been filled with twists and turns. Now she is caring for her sick grandmother while trying to save enough money to go to nursing school. She doesn’t have time to date, but when she creates a dating profile, she wasn’t expecting to meet Michael. He was everything that she could have possibly imagine and more. His charm is what attracts her to him at first, but it’s his ability to be there for her that truly wins her over. Though they were supposed to go on just one date, he saw him needing her help and she accidentally blurts out that she is his girlfriend and that’s when the story takes off. It is pasts start to come forward that she will have to make a choice of whether Michael is worth fighting for or not. I enjoyed reading the story, it was short and sweet. Michael is your typical billionaire bachelor who has a sweet relationship with his grandmother. It was nice seeing them interact with each other. He has been through a lot recently and he just wants to start fresh. Sophia has a lot of responsibilities and it’s hard to date anyone for her. But she is strong and wants to do something for herself. There are twists and turns in the story that will certainly keep you reading until the very end. The ending was sweet and it worked really well in the story. I will certainly be reading more from the author in the future. I would highly recommend reading this story, it’s worth picking up! ***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review. :)***

This is a light-hearted romance about a billionaire (Michael) with some bad memories about his ex-fiancée (Mindy) and realizes that he needs a date for a fundraiser event. He comes into contact with a rather naïve young woman (Sophia) via his dating website, after a confrontation with Mindy at the event she becomes jealous and later discloses that Sophia is a stripper and from here the retaliation and games begin. There is: quite a bit of drama, emotional issues, memories, deceit, sarcasm, some humor, manipulations, propositions, jealousy, disclosure, confrontations, apologies, grief, heartache, happiness & some steam. Although, I enjoyed reading the story, I think that the characters needed some more depth to their personalities.

Michael runs a dating website, but refuses to risk his heart again so he keeps all dates casual. So casual, that he can't find a date to the Valentine's Day charity gala. He sets up a fake profile and is matched to Sophia by his own app, yet he's still amazed and thrilled to find that she's every bit the perfect match for him. Sophia is happy to play the part of a cherished Cinderella for one night, but when Michael's ex starts embarrassing him at the gala, Sophia jumps to his defense and makes things much more complicated by claiming she and Michael are engaged. They privately agree to keep up the ruse for one month, during which they get to know each other better and Michael starts to rethink his dating policies. But then Michael learns her secret, trust becomes an issue between them, and Sophia suffers a tragic loss that has her rethinking the cost of a relationship with Michael. To say that these two have a complicated relationship is a huge understatement, making their road to a HEA fraught with personal introspection and life-goal reevaluations. Their intimate scenes are quite steamy and there is quite a bit of humor (especially between Michael and his family) that make this an enjoyable read. There were a couple times I thought the main characters might have been over-reacting a bit, but it wasn't glaring enough to detract from the story. There's a lot to love in this book, and I heartily recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Turns out the billionaire wasn't the only thing that was irresistible. Bostock turned a humorous tale of heartache into a deeply moving life lesson. Nothing but Trouble tackles a woman's quest for independence, even as her world is falling apart. Her redemption comes in the form of a hot billionaire with a chip on his shoulder and an emptiness in his heart. She teaches him how to hope, he reminds her how to dream and together they find the courage to try. Ashley Bostock reminds that the road less traveled could put us right where we were meant to be.

I enjoyed this book, but felt a bit like I was reading a Pretty Woman spin off. Michael is the wealthy businessman that doesn't trust women (or kiss on the lips), even since his fiance left him at the alter. Sophia is the stripper barely making ends meet. Michael's matchmaking site connects them and both are pleased. From there, pretty much all the best elements of Pretty Woman are woven into the story. Despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book because of the author's way to telling the story. If you enjoy the genre, put this on your TBR list. It's a perfect read for a quiet afternoon or at the beach.
