Overview

Nothing Special (Nothing Special Series #1) by A. E. Via, Jay Aheer

Detective Cashel 'Cash' Godfrey is big, tattooed and angry so people typically keep their distance. He's fresh out of the police academy, however, no one is looking to partner with the six foot four beast with a huge chip on his shoulder and an inability to trust. When Cash scans the orientation room he wasn't expecting to find sexy hazel eyes locked onto him. Eyes of the handsome Detective Leonidis 'Leo' Day.

Leo is charming, witty, hilariously sarcastic and the only one that can make Cash smile. He's proud, out and one bad-ass detective.

Together Cash and Leo become the most revered and successful narcotics detectives Atlanta's ever seen. Able to communicate and understand each other, without even having to voice it, they quickly climb up the promotional ranks.

When Cash saves Leo's life in a raid that turns deadly, Leo begins to see something in the big man that no one else does...something special. But Leo fears he'll never break through the impenetrable wall that protects Cash's heart.

Nothing Special takes the reader through various emotions throughout the richly fulfilling plot that's full of erotic gay romance, heartache, passion, trials and tribulations, police action scenes, and an intriguing twist that comes to an amazing ending that's impossible to see coming.

First of all, let me just say the title is misleading. This is definitely something special. I first read #3 in the series and had some reservations about it. One of the things was, I was intrigued about God and Day, heads of the elite narcotics squad the characters were in. Since I couldn’t resist, I purchased Nothing Special to read their story. Were there some of the same problems? Yes. But, I absolutely fricking loved this book. You know how you go to an action film and it might not be the best film ever made but you still love it? Yeah, that’s how I feel about Nothing Special. Cashel ‘Cash’ Godfrey – or as he is better known ‘God’ – is a detective in the Atlanta PD narcotics division. His partner, Leonidis (I so love that name) ‘Leo’ Day, is a jokester, highly intelligent, and the only man who truly gets God. They are tough, rough, and really good at bringing down drug lords. While they might not play by the rules, they get the job done. This book doesn’t just introduce us to the characters, but into their world. From God living in an apartment in the worst part of town, leaving his door unlocked, because he has a deal with the lock crooks. “You don’t rob me, and I won’t take you in.” So it has high marks just for the world building and the wonderful personalities. But it also has romance…in a big, bad boy kind of way. Day and God have been partners for four years, but as God’s personal life is crumbling, it’s his partner who comes to the rescue. And the ending (which I’m not going to tell you about) was so awesome! Made me love them both even more. Especially God. Can I find my own Cashel Godfrey? If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. But I can’t. So 5 stars it will have to be. Were there issues? Yes. Was there head-hopping? Unfortunately yes. But the book, the story, was so good, I’ve already read the book twice. 5 stars all the way. Reviewed by a-nony-mouse for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy provided for review*

Loved God and Day, why did they have to ruin it by adding Ro & Johnson into their relationship? How is that a monogamous, loving relationship? So disappointing!

OK, decent story, but...I'm really not a grammar/spelling nazi but wow...the misspellings are rife, the incorrect word usage is rampant (severally instead of severely, shinning instead of shining, accommodation instead of commendation, and many more). The mistakes are very distracting--I do not recommend this book.

God and Leo are, simply put, irritatingly sexy. They are perfect partners, both on and off the clock. Leo is annoyingly optimistic and God is incredibly powerful and together they understand each other on an emotional, almost psychic, level even before they open their hearts to the other. Throw in a little crime, some co-worker flirting and fighting and you have a great summer read that will heat and cool your soul all year long. Overall series review: Great stories with very interesting characters, both good guys and bad. Sometimes the plot seemed a little on the rushed side but still flowed smoothly so it didn't effect my enjoyment of the tale. The mysteries/crime/conflict could have had a little more punch for my taste and for that reason I have to file this series under guilty pleasures, although I never once actually felt guilty for enjoying the pleasures of the Atlanta Narcotics Task Force men and off the record they are definitely men from head to toe.

I want this whole series of men as my best friends and back up. This is an awesome beginning tale of this police task force. I will admit when Ro & Johnson were brought into the main relationship, I felt awful; but after I had walked away for month I came back and it was ok.I wish this was a BRAVO series:)

An interesting and fun story overall, BUT this so-called publishing company -- which is likely just the author, is BADLY in need of an editor!! The grammar and syntax errors are everywhere, so you have to be willing to deal with that if you wish to enjoy the story in spite of the distraction of the horrible English.

The story was ptetty good, but it didnt really follow the description when ot comes down to how one fell for the other. The erotic scenes were well written and aside from a few grammical errors I could never stop myself from reading until i was at the last page.

This book had a great story and strong characters, so I overlooked the minor grammar errors. This ebook also includes a preview to the next Blue Moon, which I cannot wait to read.
