Discover the answer to your soul-deep thirst
Too many of us have bought into the lie that our cravings will be satisfied if we are enough and if we have enough. So we chase image, answers, things, and people—and we wonder all the while, Why am I still thirsty?
My single goal with this book is to lead your thirsty soul to the only source of lasting fulfillment: Jesus. He is the living water, a limitless supply that will not only quench your thirst but will fill you and then come pouring out of you into a thirsty world.
Because of Him, you are loved. You are known. You can take a deep breath.
Because you have nothing to prove.

This is the best book I've read in awhile. My mom and I both read it and she is 56 and I am 20. It's a book for all ages as the message is timeless. Jennie Allen comes as a vulnerable friend in every page. You might want to find a friend to read this with because you're going to want to talk about it. This book was already changing my life in just the introduction. If all of her books are like this, I have a feeling I will be loving them all.
When you read this book, you will feel like you are sitting down with a friend. Jennie is so real and authentic with us as readers. She will encourage you to admit you are not enough, but Jesus is! I love that she is continually pointing the reader back to the Gospel. She encourages you continue to know and love Christ more and than watch and see how HE uses you! I believe this will be my book of the year for 2017! I want to give it everyone I know! Love this edition with the extra questions and recipes!
In a world full of people announcing “I am enough,” Jennie Allen is brave enough to say, “I am NOT enough.” In her latest book, “Nothing to Prove,” Allen explains why she is not enough, and why NONE OF US are enough. This book will open your eyes to the freedom that awaits once you realize that Jesus is enough and you can stop trying to be something you’re not meant to be. I strongly recommend this book to everyone who is struggling or looking for encouragement. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
There are a lot of good books out there. And there are a few that will change the way you live. This book is definitely a life changer for me. I didn't even realize how desperately I needed to read the truths in this book...Jennie's message is to stop trying so hard to earn that which has already freely been given to us. What a sense of relief, joy, and freedom to realize that I can stop trying to do everything right and stop trying to prove my own worth. One of the most powerful lines for me was, "I am realizing it's not my curse that I believe I am not enough; it's my sin that I keep trying to be." Yes!! Jennie continually points us back to Jesus for the answers to all our questions and needs. She encourages us to find our worth in the "streams of enoughness" that He makes readily available to us. Her vulnerability and authenticity is so encouraging...reading about her struggles and victories makes us want to stop hiding behind all our efforts, and also motivates us to see how God can use each of us even with our imperfections. I have read it once and it has changed me. I am about to read it again so I can absorb more of it, and I am excited to share the message with others so that we can journey to freedom together.
This book. It is one that has reiterated what the Lord has been teaching me for so long. In this book, Jennie is really blunt--in a good way. She speaks truth like, "Stop trying so hard," or "Trust God." She reminds the reader of the Gospel over and over again to make sure we understand that Christ has done it all on the cross. There is nothing left for us to prove. It's an absolute beautiful, life-changing, and freeing experience to know that God already loves us. We don't have to earn his love. Ahh!! This book is so good! In fact it's so good, that my co-workers have bought into the idea of a doing a book club with it! You just NEED to read it! :)
I am a type A, firstborn, do-it-all, perfectionistic mom of 4 who has been striving to prove myself my whole life. Actually, I should say I USED to be that – until about 5 years ago when I started having some health struggles in my life and could no longer do it all, much less do any it even remotely perfectly. I say this so you know that I know EXACTLY what it’s like to be on both sides of the coin. So hear me when I say…if you are feeling frazzled from striving so hard, from feeling like you need to prove your worth to others, from feeling like you’re sinking or drowning beneath the weight you carry…YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. The author’s style of writing is transparent enough you feel she is a friend who loves you enough to tell you like it is. She shares her own struggles and fears. She understands. I felt like she’d camped out in my head the last 5 years and then written a book about what all was going on in there. I especially enjoyed the sections she would write from the perspective of someone in the Bible, ex: the bride at the wedding in John 2, the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4. Also, there are questions at the end of each chapter to help you reflect and process what she talked about and how it relates to your own life and struggles. If you think you’re too busy to read this book, my guess is you probably REALLY need to read this book. There’s more to life than a to-do list, friend! I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
One of the most sacred invitations you can be called to is the story, the real story of where another has walked. Jennie Allen has simply & clearly laid out the steps she has journeyed. In her vulnerability and admitting where she does not have it all together, she shows how God, in His grace already knew that. He knows we all are limited, fallen and receives us in that place of “not enoughness.” Jennie models how naming, confessing and getting honest in the areas we are striving or numbing out, actually become the very places of intimacy and life. It is in those places of brutal honesty where Jesus can invade and show Himself to be sweeter and more satisfying than anything the world could offer. One of the strengths of this book, is Jennie invites you to the very words of Scripture. The living, breathing, active words of God intersecting in our current space and time bring life. She walks through the book of John, showing us Jesus’ way of love, truth and grace. Her current application, encouragement and call to our generation is rooted in the story of God. You will be stirred to pick up your Bible, digging deeper into the words that lead to hope, salvation and lasting change. This is a book that has many layers. You can devour it, move through it and then it beckons you to keep considering the Truth. It is experiential, offering time throughout to reflect and consider and will be a wonderful tool in the hands of women as they process together. There will be beautiful stories of the Lord using these very words to set women free; free to worship and live connected to the One who gives life abundantly. What a treasured voice Jennie is for our generation!
I was so privileged to be on the launch team for this book. I couldn't put the book down. How could she get me so right? How did she know that's exactly what I was dealing with? So many women (and men) are stuck in bondage trying to prove ourselves. The message of this book is basic but deep, simple yet so incredibly challenging and oh so real. Don't we want freedom? I know I don't want to be trapped by thinking I need to please others. This book tackles this issue from every angle. Allen uses scripture and personal examples of struggling with this exact issue to explain the whys, why nots and how tos of "why we can stop trying so hard". This book was life changing for me. You need this book. Buy it and read it as soon as possible. ReAd it a 2nd or 3rd time. I know I will be reading it multiple times. Don't we want freedom in Christ?! This book will help you realize so much about yourself. You won't be disappointed.
