Taran Wird holds the unique ability to conjure fire and lightning. She is mated to Gemini, Second in Command to the Squaw Valley Pack of the Lake Tahoe Region, and the sole werewolf to possess the ability to split into two wolves. And although they are mates, Taran’s insecurities have driven them apart.
Devastated by an injury that left her with a zombie-like limb, Taran struggles to regain command over her magic. But when her arm and her power turn against her, lashing out on those she most loves, she knows she can no longer carry this burden alone. Not that she likes the alternative.
The only way to regain control of her magic is to align and learn from the local coven of witches―the very ones who sought to banish her when she and her three unique sisters first moved to the mystical region. But although Taran is trying, the teachings don’t come easy, and the tasks leave her weak and emotionally shattered.
Yet Taran must learn and learn fast. Time is running out. The fire she once mastered so easily has become her greatest adversary and is now slowly burning her alive . . .

Taran Wird has a special power that allows her to pull fire and lightening from her body. When her right arm is tore off by a were, it is replaced with a different using ancient magic. The new "zombie" arm has Taran feel less than perfect and her insecurities cause her to end it with Gemini, her mate. She must now deal with everything alone, while battling her arm. I was so excited that another Weird Girls novel got released. I loved reading the first full book about Taran. Her firecracker personality really drew me in. From the moment I started reading, I couldn't stop until it was done. I can't wait for the next book.
Great to follow a story focused on Taran and Gemini.
I really enjoyed this book. Great series. Only complaint is that it takes so long for the next book.
Of Flame and Light is book seven in the Weird Girls series by Cecy Robson. It’s an Urban Fantasy series featuring a wicked set of paranormal races. It's the second book to feature Taran as the lead, which means you definitely need to read the books in order. I love this world and the Weird Sisters. Each sister is unique in their own way and the family bond they have is just so heartfelt. Returning to this world is a joy and also an emotional wrecking ball. Ms. Robson has a way of always making me cry and feel so deeply for her characters. The emotional journey and turmoil they go through is just overwhelming. You feel their pain and struggles. Of Flame and Light was no different. I was odd and captivated by the storyline and characters. I loved Taran and oh boy did I feel for her. Poor poor Taran is struggling in so many ways. Her power is burning her alive, her relationship with her mate Gimini is kinda in the outs, and she has to swallow her pride and go to the Witches for help. Her life is imploding around her. She has always been the strong tough sister, who puts on the tough guy attitude, but deep down their is more to her then that. Will she master her powers before time runs out? Their are other things going on to when dark powers, rogue witches, and zombies come crawling around challenging the combined strength of the weres and coven. It was nice to dive into the witch coven and have them spotlighted. We don’t get much on them in previous books until now. The story is exciting and intense. The battle scenes are action packed and Taran, faces her training challenges head on with determination and spirt that only she can pull off. Gemini and Taran, I wanted them to talk things out. Neither fully understood why the other was shying away and the struggles they both felt. That’s because of the lack of communication. But this pair bring out all the emotions - tears, heartbreak, frustrations, laughter, and passion. We are also treated to previous characters from the series, mostly Taran’s sisters and their ongoing stories. Em, yes I noticed something going on with her. Can’t wait for that situation to come out. Of Flame and Light delivered a powerful read with a splendid climax scene well worth the build up. We get some earlier issues resolved, but still the door is left open for more of Taran’s story. Not all is complete. I can’t wait to see what happens next. *This book was provided by the author or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review, at my request. Taran's new arm is misbehaving, severely. It's protective yet deadly dangerous, and not under Taran's control. Aric takes Taran to the one person that could help her, and the one person Taran hates the most. Genevieve, the powerful woman in charge of the local coven. Taran refuses to stay to train, accept and learn control over her new limb. Seeing Gemini close to the coven leader sends Taran over the edge, not wanting to be near either of them. Taran takes the test offered. Retrieve a witch who's gone rogue, meaning she's given to the dark magic or gone crazy, proving she's one with her new arm and gained control of it. Taran makes a new friend yet ends up back at the coven. Taran's sparky personality and uncontrollable arm makes things interesting for her. There is something about Cecy's writing that grips me and holds me to the page. Each sister has her own set of troubles to work through and each girl and troubles are different which makes the books so enthralling for me. I just want to forget the rest of the world and keep reading, not even watch my favorite shows! Oh do I love Taran! She's my kind of girl. She's quick with comebacks and on uses swear words to the best they can be use. She has quick clips that are off the wall yet fit perfectly for the situation or moment. I am always curious what next she'll say. With her great personality, there's more. Poor Taran. She's struggling with much of the same thing Cecy did with Aric, her and Gemini are not doing well. But there seems to be more to this stalled relationship with Gemini and Taran, and it seems to have to do with her new arm. All this with the new arm that's uncontrollable and protective. It reacts in a flash and things turn into a mess. Also, the power in her and the arm is building and could kill her. Taran is struggling with her magic and emotions, which sparks her magic. Oh the things that happen! LOL! And to see the coven that's so close to nature, and feed nature with their emotions. Oh Taran makes a hot mess of it all. And I loved it! We get to see the witch coven of Genevieve. Wow! It's crazy here. lol. But the events that happen with the plants and water make me laugh too. Taran is one feisty lady. Taran's emotions run hot but many may not see that, they may only see a woman who's angry. Taran is hurting in a few ways and it shows, even it that's not what people see on the outside. We do get to see Taran and Gemini together, though it's not as you would expect. Nice twist to the moment. And we do learn what is going on with Gemini and Taran. I'm even curious about Emme... there is something more there with her and another. And... Oh I need to see more with Emme! lol. This is the next book in the series. We see Celia married and pregnant. I so love seeing the sisters together. They have a great relationship and try to take care of each other. We start out the gat seeing all the girls again but also with Taran's biggest trouble, her arm and her fire is eating her alive. I enjoyed getting to spend time with Bren again too! We see him for a time in the book. I love his humor and connection with the sisters. I'm so in love with these sisters and characters. I can't wait for more books!!
Where have I been??? As a HUGE fan of such Paranormal beasties as Vamps and Were’s, I cannot believe that Cecy Robson has been writing about the Weird girls for SIX BOOKS and I’m just now finding out about them. Thank heavens she is releasing OF FLAME AND LIGHT (Weird Girls Book #7) now with such a gorgeous cover that completely caught my eye! Getting to know Taran and her situation was easy as she drove the story and it had me engrossed in no time. I had to know how she was going to ‘fix it’ for her limb, her relationship with Gemini, her self-esteem – everything. And I’ll tell you right now, what she goes through is sooo not for wimps. That girl is right up my alley though. I loved her smart mouth and her uncanny ability to be appropriately inappropriate. Best of all though, no matter how hard it got, Taran would not give up. We could use some more of that IRL. As much as I loved the book, I felt like it had a bit of a Star Trek ending and after all Taran went through, it wrapped up just a little too quickly. I also really had a lump in my throat for large portions of the story, especially where Taran and Gemini were concerned and it seemed like that was kind of a little too long. All in all, the book was so well written and I am sure that it would make fans of the series as well as newbies like me happy. And I’m just so grateful to have seen this gorgeous cover and had the opportunity to read and review OF FLAME AND LIGHT so I could add a fantastic series to my group of beloved Paranormals. If you have yet to read it, you are in for a treat! ****4 Stars**** I received a copy of this book from a tour promoter in exchange for an honest review.
