This was my first book from this author and for this series. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. There were a lot more twist and turns in it to keep you interested all the way through.

I found the descriptions and opening chapters to this story immersed me in the world of Lake Tahoe casino working. The main character is not stupid, she knows her current boyfriend, Eric is pulling away - as the saying goes "out of sight out of mind". It did take what seemed ages for her to realise it was over though. Would you really leave it weeks of not hearing from your long distance boyfriend before you didn't bother contact him anymore or got to the bottom of it? I think that was the only part I didn't really get to grips with. Jeager came across as a cool dude and much more to who I envisaged Cali with. There are a few twists and turns along the way to the end but overall a refreshingly less emotionally draining storyline than the usual NA formula. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Jaeger and Cali are likeable characters whose physical attraction is off limits to Cali who wants to be faithful to her boyfriend. She's trying to help her friend, Gen recover from a cheating ex by finding a new guy. There's a lot to be said for characters who overcome major life disappointments with grace and courage. Jaeger was on the US Olympic ski team when an injury dashed those hopes. Cali is questioning her decision to attend Harvard Law and wonders what she'll choose instead. Although the story was interesting it was made less so by the use of Christ, Jesus Christ and Jesus as profane exclamations. Yes, some people do speak this way. I still consider it unnecessary and even illiterate when authors cannot find other ways to express themselves.

3.5 stars This a quick light read about Cali & Jaeger and the relationship. I enjoyed the attraction and the humorous dialogue. I did enjoy the storyline but at times I want it to give me more info or at times it left me with questions and I don't know if they'll ever get answered. I will be getting book 2 Blue Crush cause I am intrigued by Gen and what she's been up to.

I just love new adult romance. Jules Barnard has created a great group of characters and a storyline that keeps you glued to the page. The complicated love story is one that all young women will enjoy. The decision to choose between love and friendship makes this a nail-biting romance in which you can't wait to see how things turn out.
