While this book is aimed at United States Chess Federation members others can benefit, too. If you are a serious tournament player, a mainstay at your local chess club, or just someone who enjoys chess, this book is the official rulebook on chess in the United States. This is the rule book all USCF tournament directors must rely on. Using this book you can take an open book test provided by the USCF and become a local tournament director. Many serious tournament players become tournament directors in self defense. If a dispute about the rules occurs in a tournament game that you're playing, it's difficult to argue with you if you're a registered tournament director. This little scenario occurs frequently. If you play at a local club every week it's just as valuable. Many disputes over time limits can be resolved with this book. And, if you teach chess, this is, of course, a must. Even casual players can benefit by gaining a better understanding of the official rules. As highly recommended as a chess book can get!!! I use this one when I teach chess. See other titles for books I use in my chess classes.

Whether you're an international master or just a beginner, this is a must have. I know that I have gotten into arguments with friends over the clock, en passant, j'adobe and things as simple as outside distractions. This book will give you a detailed decription of all the rules of chess plus 10 game tips for beginners. No matter who you are this is a must have for your chess library!
