Oh No [CD/DVD]

The anxious and modern children of indie rock and new wave, OK Go will always have something you can love. In 2002 it was a squelchy, three-minute summation of what made the Pixies great called "Get Over It." Three years later it's a savvy batch of songs that are probably too calculated for their own good -- perfectly arranged like those natty suits the quartet wears in Oh No's photos -- but too prickly with excitement to really ignore. As tense and bursting as it is hooky and efficient, "Do What You Want" sounds a lot like the Hives. But it could also be a sly and modern Escape Club. This continues with "Here It Goes Again" and "Good Idea at the Time," songs that cut too jaggedly to be opportunistic revivalism but still whir with new wave's wiggy energy. Fans of OK Go's first album will love "No Sign of Life" and the weirder "Oh Lately It's So Quiet," while "Crash the Party"'s 1000-watt tingle is more the speed of Oh No. Sometimes that speed does seem factory-set, though. "Million Ways" is where the album's calculated feel really surfaces. Its modified disco swagger and three-note guitar lead is so perfect for 21st century modern rock, so edgy and hooky all at the same time. (Keep in mind: Franz Ferdinand producer Tore Johansson also handled the boards for Oh No.) "Television, Television" too, with its trash culture referential lyrics and hyper rhythms, winks with a knowing sense. But what are you going to do? OK Go has written an album that coats its incredibly accessible nuts and bolts with an effervescent rocket sauce, and that's just the way it is. It's got that unique zing, the one that says "modern rock sensation!" on the label. [The album was rissued in 2006 mostly due to the attention the band got for their sensational video for "Here It Goes Again." Along with the album, a second disc of video content has been added including every video the band has made, a feature on the making of the "Here It Goes Again" video and various extras.]

I first ran across OK Go about six months ago when I saw their video for 'A Million Ways.' The song's upbeat dance/pop/rock vibe compelled me to buy their album, Oh No, and I must say, I am completely satisfied. It's one of those albums that I can just put on and not have to skip through any songs. Great all around.

I love every track on this album. I highly recommend giving every track a listen, but my favorites were A Million Ways, Here It Goes Again and The House Wins. Oh No is a great album, but I would also recommend their self-titled album to complement this album. If you love good music, you will love this album.

If you like good music, you'll like this record. Plain and simple. Rawer and smoother than their last, but just as good. It's a good buy and an even better piece of work. There's a song for every mood you're in. A rare good AND new band. Check it out.

Having been an OK Go fan for almost four years, I was estatic to find that another CD dropped this past month. It's become a part of me, and I cannot stress how wonderful it really is. It combines everything that any music lover needs, from the sexy "Oh Lately It's So Quiet" to the head bopping "Crash The Party" and the philisophical "The House Wins" resting at in the middle, only at the end of the CD. Whatever. I highly reccommend it to any music lover out there-you will not be dissappointed.

If I was stranded on a desert island and I had a choice to take one, and only one CD with me, this would be it! My favorite album of all time. You know those songs that no matter how many times you listen to them, you can't get enough of them? Well, this CD is packed with those songs. It's just a phenomenal album by a great band. A must have!

This album is soooo good. I thought that the first one was good but this one blows it out of the water. The songs are amazing and whenever you hear them you feel like you want to get up and dance.

What does it take to become my new favorite band? Start with a sophomore release that blows your impressive first album out of the water, complete with Beach Boys harmonies, Cars synthesizer squelches and Queen-inspired fanfare all over-top hard hitting crunchy guitars and power-pop-rock. Then build a website that not inspires people to become fans, but rewards them too. This is exactly what OK Go has done, and that is why they are my new favorite band. Oh No is from start to finish a fun and rocking CD. The hooks are infectious, but the songwriting is far to grand to be bubble-gum. OK Go’s vocal work is right-on and memorable. Production is major-label professional without being overly slick. In short, this album rocks. Producer Tore Johansson (Franz Ferdinand) told OK Go on the first day of work on Oh No, “You will go into a room and you will rock.” That is exactly what they did.

if you thought you liked OK Go before, you're gonna piddle your pants over them now. There new CD is fantabulous, fatastic, amazing, brilliant, etc. The songs range from fast paced, to haunting, to just plain old fun. The lyrics are smart and the CD is hot. -TheGreyLady

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard this album! I didn't believe that Ok Go could equal, let alone exceed, the standard of their first album! This album is full of fun and beauty. One of those rare albums you could never tire of hearing! Beautiful! Rebecca Davis

This cd is great, it is very different from their first album self titled 'okgo'. It realy gets you up and moving. Their music i would describe as intelligent and unpretentious pop rock. This band overwhelmed me when i firt herd there strange compilation of guitar, keyboard and backup vocals. They were different from anything i had ever heard before, and i liked it. Okgo are on the rise and will keep rising until they can rise no more.

Oh No is an amazing follow up to OK Go's self-titled album that came out a few years ago. One of the few bands where the members are just as enjoyable as their music, OK Go is an addicting band that plays music for music's sake (a rare breed these days). One has a hard time not want to get up and dance!

I assimilated to this C.D. Extremely quickly. It has the most inventive keyboard parts and harmonies i've ever heard. The Bass players falsetto is a great suplement to the lead singer's unique voice. I never get tired of OH NO.

Ok Go is not okay, actually it's amazingly fabulous filled with splendid beats, catchy tunes and lyrics. They most def. outdid themselves from the previous album "Ok Go". With their new album, the artists pushed past their limits, settling for nothing better and brand new fresh songs. Go buy it and hear it for yourself!

I love this album like I love the air I breath. Ok Go's songs are so catchy and creative, they really stick with you, i would say that this band can pull anything off, from their video of "a million ways to be cruel" to their fabulous live performances, the sound on the album is really mellow, yet full of energy, and Damiam Kulash's voice is irresistible. a must buy for anyone

The Dvd is hilarious if you enjoy Ok Go. It includes many videos you can't find on the internet or anywhere else and you get the latest CD as well. ~getalife
