Overview

OK Go

Shamelessly grabbing anything catchy, fun, and irresistible from pop and rock 'n' roll, Chicago's OK Go make dumb rock for smart people, with only the slightest hint of irony. With fans including Ira Glass of NPR's This American Life and John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants, OK Go might appear to have unquestionable nerdy credentials, but that's only half the story. Like Weezer, the quartet don't hide their intelligence even when they're rollicking through a song as infectious as "Get Over It," which follows a litany of whiny complaints with a stuttering refrain of "Hey! get-get-get-get over it." In "What to Do," they manage to make the line "Mediocre people do exceptional things all the time" into a memorable refrain. There's a definite retro-bent to OK Go's modern rock bubblegum. The bouncy keyboards in "You're So Damn Hot" nod to the Cars, the tribal drums in "Don't Ask Me" recall '80s flash Adam Ant (specifically "Goody Two Shoes"), "There's a Fire" blatantly rewrites the Cure's poppy "Close to Me." Somehow, OK Go get away with all this new wave thievery. "It's just you'd think I'd grow out of this, wouldn't you?" goes the refrain of "Bye Bye Baby," but there's no need to worry about immaturity, since super-catchy power pop like OK Go produce can appeal to all ages. It's an exceptional thing.

This CD is excellent- there's no denying this fact, especially since the band won an Academy Award this year. The upbeat tracks have everything you could want- they are fun to listen to and easy to sing along with. This is one of my favorite CDs that I own anad would make a great addition to any CD collection.

This album is so amazing. It starts off with get over It and you can't stop listening. You want to hear more of this amazing band. These catchy tunes and lyrics will make you singing these songs for days, but in a good way that is. The album ends with Bye, Bye Baby, and let me tell you, you do never want to say bye bye to this CD.

This CD should be sold out by now for the price it's going for. Catchy, deep lyrix and genius in musical composition is a formula for success. Damian Kulash's expressive voice is icing on the cake. I'll be looking forward to OK GO doing big things in the future.

OK GO has to be the best music I have ever heard in my life. It gets me in a great mood, and I am telling EVERYONE that they are now my favorite band. I have to be the number one fan. Their CD is so excellent, and they're such a talented group of people. I know that they are going to go really far and one day they will be ALL over the television. I LOVE OK GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's about time for OK Go to be recognized! They're talented, and they have a fresh and energetic sound. A lot of people consider them to be copycats of bands like Weezer, but really, they have their own thing goin', and it shouldn't be overlooked by the invasion of "alternative" bands. They are a bit remisicent of many 90's post-punk bands with the keyboard and catchy hooks, but that's definitely a good thing in OK Go's case. This is totally rockin' debut album, so check it out!

This is definitely worth the money. I know that you thought about going and downloading it, but don't. Just buy it. The CD itself and the case are awesome, and the music is even better. Do it. "It's just you'd think I'd grow out of this, wouldn't you?"(-Bye Bye Baby, OkGo) No, I won't grow out of this, and this music will never get boring. I'll love it forever, and so will you, so go buy it.

This album is simply superb. One of the best Rock albums in my book. Every track has it's own color to it. The lyrics are insane, you can get something different from them everytime you listen. These lyrics will stick in your head and the beat will never leave your cranium. Ok Go definetly dished out some in genius lyrics and music for these songs. We will wait for even better tunes in their next album.

I bought this CD having heard OK Go's debut single "Get Over It". The track immediately implanted itself in my head and I found myself compulsively watching the video wherever I could find it... When I bought the album, I was worried that the rest of the CD wouldn't live up to the first track's genius, but I couldn't have been more wrong. OK Go never fails to make me smile - the lyrics are beautiful in places, while brilliantly bitter in tracks like "Get Over It" and "Don't Ask Me". Softer melodies and harmonies in "The Fix Is In" and "Hello My Treacherous Friends" are simply uplifting, but my favourite would have to be "You're So Damn Hot", featuring particularly camp vocals from Damian Kulash (pure genius) and lots of handclapping! I would definietly recommend OK Go, both the album and the band, who have now been the most played band on my playlist for over 3 months, and about whom I am possibly bordering on obsession... As it is now my most treasured CD, I advice everyone to buy OK Go immediately!

This album is cool . the only mistake is that some songs sound the same . It still has a powerful opening , Get Over It.

When i was very first introduced to OK Go i didn't expect to like it because new music and i do not really get along i am really into classic rock. But as soon as it started i absolutely loved it. There is not a single track on this cd that i didn't enjoy. I would recommend OK Go to anyone because the answer to the question of life, the universe and everything is not 42 it is OK Go.

if stuck on a remote island and you could only have one thing what would that be? most people would say a boat but what goods a boat if you run out of gas and you have no idea where to go? so instead of wasting your one thing on a boat why not waste it on OK GO's debut album you may not have a cd player on the island but you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you are you're still cooler than all those kids in highschool that took woodshop
