Taylor Armstrong returns to Badger Lake to bury her Aunt Grace who raised Taylor and her brother, Greg after their mother died, but the secrets of the past materialize with far too many complicated questions Greg had died a few years earlier from a drug overdose. He, too, had secrets. He and three others knew the circumstances surrounding the death of one of their friends, Rebecca. When the entire town is interested in Taylor’s plans for her aunt’s house and whether or not Taylor plans to stay, she slowly begins to understand why everyone is focused on her. Andrew Scott, a local policeman, comes to Taylor’s rescue more than once and strives to keep her safe after her house is burglarized and two of Greg’s old friends are dead. I am so in love with Ms. McGregor’s writing especially her cozy mysteries. I was so sure I knew who the suspect would be and once again Ms. McGregor has a wonderfully surprising ending. The story is believable, the characters are real, and the mystery is superb.
