This is an excellent book on the omega-3s, which are health providing substances found in fish oil. Stoll is clearly an authority on the subject and does an excellent job of explaining what is known so far about the omega-3s and what some of the remaining questions are. Excellent information is provided on how to supplement your diet with more fish oil through food intake or supplements. Some ideas in the book are a bit speculative, however, and perhaps the entire case of there being some sort of epidemic omega-3 shortage that is causing a good deal of depression is overstated and premature. Nonetheless, there does seem to be some correlation between low rates of depression and cultures with high dietary intake of omega-3s. I wonder if ancient man ate much fish oil, as this is an evolutionary question that might tell us something about whether we're really missing out on this supposedly essential substance today. Either way, this is an excellent book for learning more about omega-3s.

This book was so exciting and provided hope, especially in the uses of omega 3's for depression. This would be a great alternative for those who can't tolerate antidepressants. There are so many positive uses for omega 3's. I really enjoyed learning about all the research showing the benefits of this.

This is one of those books where after you read it your life style will change. We spend billions of dollars on health care at the treatment level when we should be focusing on the cause. As a physician treating cardiovascular disease the cause is in our diet. Read it if you want to know more about yourself and lead a healthy life.

I have found this book to be extremely helpful to me. It has provided me with a possible scientific explanation for why many individuals today are suffering from mental disorders such as depression, panic attacks and bi-polar disorders which seem to be not helped by anti-psychotic drugs. If many of today's mental ills stem from the current lack of Omega 3 in the diet, then a book such as this should be a wonderful help to those suffering from the negative effects caused by such a deficiency; a solution which treats the underlying cause is to be preferred to that of only treating the symptoms. I recommend this book to all parents, like myself, who are struggling with trying to find answers to their child's mental problems. I only wish that this book had been published three years ago, although I am happy to have read it now. In addition, after reading this book, I think that we can all benefit from what it reveals about the lack of Omega 3 in everyone's diet and the many benefits to be derived from including Omega 3 as a supplement to preserve our continued health and well-being.
