This book shined a light on the horrors of prejudice and domestic violence, and through its pages, the reader learned that more than just sadness over these issues is called for--so is action. I appreciated how the characters put aside their personal reservations and became involved in making the lives of other people better. This story held several twists and turns, and it gently pointed the reader toward God. I enjoyed how it demonstrated that people have the capacity to change, and how that in the end, even great evil can be transformed into something good.

AWESOME!!!  I've never seen so much happen in one book. It's so well entwined to bring this story to a beautiful ending.  I LOVED IT.  I could not have imagined the plot.   I'll be very watchful for this author's past and future writings.

On a Summer Night is a delightful return to the 1960s, a story woven with mystery and romance. Two young women vacation in Florida and witness a disturbing event that will remain in the heart and mind of the heroine. What is most gratifying is the romance that lasts through decades of trials, and tribulations, to a happy ending. Kudos to the author for a book in the Inspirational genre that's a keeper.

A door to a dark past is opened when two college friends, while on vacation in Florida, witness what will ultimately haunt one in particular. This novel does not hurry the reader as it winds its way through well-developed characters and descriptions of an unforgivable event. An inspiring book that reveals how one can accept and forgive with the help of God. A good read!

Diane's rich description of the sights and sounds of southern Florida made me feel as if I were there. I have lived in Florida and she captured the essence well with her words. Other places were visited in the story and I could almost picture the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Montana. The way that Diana weaves the stories of the different characters together in a tapestry makes the story complete. The characters have various difficulties they must deal with and Diane brings each person's story thread to a satisfying conclusion by the end of the novel. Overall this is a good read for a lazy, rainy afternoon, (Which is what I did yesterday)or any type of day.

On a Summer Night is a delight to read. I was swept back to a simpler point in time, but in many ways a harsher era. While on vacation an event changed two young girls’ lives. Later, as Kate finds happiness with Craig, she must once again face her past. Suddenly, in the midst of all she finds her life taking another turn. Kate and Craig must decide if they can follow the path, they believe God has placed before them. Or do they turn away and forget? Diane Dean White is a great author. Her books make you feel as if you’re right there beside the characters, involved in the action. An added bonus to (in) her novels is the wonderful recipe included.
