Reviews "I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to review such ground-breaking material on death and dying. This 85 page gem has made a huge difference in my life. This world renowned author will always be remembered for her clear and accurate account of the 5 stage dying process, and the impact her work has had will echo through the corridors of time. There are many excellent books out on the subject of near death experiences, and life after death experiences, but I had always been curious as I got older what the process of shedding my body suit was all about. Just about the time I thought I would even start looking for a book on the topic I would get a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach and decide maybe it wasn't a good idea after all. I would recommend this gentle honest helper to anyone who has a true desire to learn the many facet of such a natural part of life."-Riki Frahmann www.mysticlivingtoday.com

This book is not written from any specific religion slant, it is written from a more basic human side. She has collected many years worth of personal experience in spending time with those who are dying, and has walked away many points that would help anyone dealing with loved ones who have died, or may be dying. I would encourage anyone to read this book that has open questions about what is it like to die, is death painful, do you die alone, are there near death experiences, and so much more. It is a must read. Blind people who had flatlined and came back could state, in detail, what people were wearing in the room, the colors, and their jewelry. If that isn't proof of life after death, I don't know what is. It proves that oxygen-deprivation cannot have caused a blind person to know what was in the room. This was very comforting to me, and I applaud Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross for her years of extensive research. This book is a keeper. I will put it with my Will for my children to read after I am gone one day. This book has given me the assurance that my son is indeed in a much better place and that he is not alone, but instead is surrounded by the persons he loved most: his grandparents and uncle and that someday we shall meet again.

I had read one other book about "near-death" experiences and wanted to try another. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross is practically THE go-to person on this subject so I wanted to read one of her books.

Since this book was written well into her career, it's written from the stand point that all she says is FACT. She doesn't waste any time giving reasons why she believes it is fact or trying to prove it's authenticity. But again, at this stage in her career, SHE was already certain that these things were absolutely true so it makes sense she would write as such.

That withstanding, there are some very interesting stories and it's an easy read.

Just a note: One of the four parts of the book talks specifically about losing one's parents. She speaks mainly to the child or young adult in this chapter, not the middle-aged who has lost his parent at a "normal" age. Just thought I'd mention that since I wasn't aware of that bit before I bought it.

This was a short, but great book. I found it very helpful as a bereaved mother of a young child. It was very comforting to me. I will definitely be reading more of Elizabeth's books.
