Gio and Carly's story was HOT. The circumstances under which they come together are not easy and could easily break people down but they are able to move past it and instead grow closer together. They are interesting characters with depth and vulnerabilities. It makes the story more relatable. I couldn't put it down. I am jonesing for the next one!

5 stars just isn’t enough. Can I buy another one? I was a little late to the Tapped Out scene. At the urging of a friend I recently read book 1, Shadowboxer, and was completely hooked. I power-read the rest of the series in time for Carly and Gio’s story. Because, while I love & admire older sister Mia for her bravery, protectiveness, and never-give-up warrior’s spirit, little sister Carly stole a big chunk of my heart with her sass, optimism, and willingness to put it all out there and go after what she wants. Carly’s, Gio’s and our trust is tested early in the book with a scene that is deeply emotional and potentially distressing. It’s only the author’s immense talent in story and rich character development that allows everyone to get through it with minimal scars. It’s the first of many intense situations that try Carly and Gio’s burgeoning but fragile relationship. For various reasons, the couple fights against an emotional connection, but cannot deny their physical attraction. Their passion is explosive, overpowering, frequently explored, and utterly delicious. Each book in the Tapped Out series is more exceptional than the last, and I’m quickly running out of adjectives to describe them. On The Ropes is about exacting justice, protecting family, and allowing oneself to love and be happy. It’s gritty. It’s intense. It’s combustible. It’s superb. During the seemingly endless wait for book 4, Suckerpunch, I’ll grab the nearest thesaurus and search for new adjectives and adverbs.

This book was Carly and Gio's book. Their story has been building since they first met in book one of the series. It did not disappoint. Carly is a culinary student by day and dances in a strip club by night. Giovanni is the bad boy MMA fighter who is also the son of one of Las Vegas' biggest mobsters. He did not join the family crime family though. He went to work for their rival. Ever since his fiancée was gunned down, he's sworn revenge on her father, who he holds responsible for her death. This book was extremely hot. I loved the story and did not see the ending coming. It's also a little dark when dealing with the underground world of MMA fighting, organized crime, and strip clubs.

This is a first by Cari Quinn for me and I wasn't disappointed. My biggest pet peeve with this story is Carly's age. With her being the main character and facing a lot of adult situations, I just wish the author would have made her age older. Carly is 18 years old and to me that is just too young for an adult romance novel with this much heat. You will however with the story line forget that she is that young because the characters actions will make her seem older. Gio is the mobsters son and has been dodging Carly's advancements for months. Now he is thrown into a no win situation with Carly to keep her safe and to keep his place with the enemy's crew to avenge his wife's death. There is lots of heat and well written sex scenes between the characters and the chemistry is real. This story is not really a feel good story line. It has some very intense ADULT situations that may not be for the faint of heart. This book is part of a series and even though you can read it as stand alone. I felt at times that I was a little lost with the side characters story lines. I plan to read the previous books in this series as well as the future ones.

I was disappointed in this book. I felt that it took too long to get into the storyline. The references were there but I was unclear what was going on until much later in the book.

Before I get to my review I want to make it clear that this book comes with warning from the author: Please be advised this book contains content some may find triggering (sexual trauma) and also contains graphic sex, language and violence that may not be suitable for underage readers. I fell in love with this series from book one and have not looked back. The author does such a fabulous job of transfixing you into the story that you can’t help becoming emotionally attached to each one of the characters. Carly Andersen isn’t your typical eighteen year old. Growing up under the protective thumb of her older sister most of her life has ignited not only her need to walk on the wild side of street but her desire for a man who her sister would not approve of. MMA’s newest superstar Giovanni Costa is a fighter both in and out of the cage. Inside he fights to win. Outside he fights for love. Together they feed the need that has been building for months. But can they survive it?
