Best dream ever…
Marinda Rhinehart loathes the cold and has been scared to swim ever since she fell through the ice of Lake Huron when she was a teenager. So why is she standing with Gavin, the most handsome man she has ever seen, in a frigid icy place in a formal wedding-type ceremony, and giving up her V-card for mind-blowing sex she’s only read about in books?
Except it isn't a dream…
When she wakes up in her apartment in Gainesville, Florida and makes plans to go back to Michigan in the winter for her aunt’s funeral, dream guy is at the airport. She doesn’t believe he’s real and still has major trust issues after she was dumped in college by her long-term boyfriend who was on another date at the time.
Gavin insists he’s not a dream and that she has really joined with him. He doesn’t tell her he must battle Ramian, a ranking leader at his home under the waves in the Granite Cliffs, to allow her to take her place with him in his homeland. And it must be her choice.
Can she give up her life on land and trust her heart and life to a man she barely knows in an alien place? And can he keep her safe from Ramian’s hatred?

I really enjoyed this book. It had a different take on mermaids and where they were from. Marinda thinks Gavin is just a figment of her imagination and like many of us decides he's just a fantasy to dream about. But he's not. She meets him face-to-face in a Michigan airport in what I would describe as a jaw-dropping, what the.... moment. She is definitely not the only one that would happen to. Admit it ladies, you'd do the same thing. This was the first book by this author I've read and I look forward to exploring more books by her.
This is a short story about a girl who gives up everything to be with a merman. I kind of felt the description was a little misleading when it says that Gavin has to battle Ramian, but there is plenty of physical between him and Marinda though. A whole lot of physical with plenty of detail! One thing that kind of bugged me was that she only has one dream of him. Why didn't she have more? Her relationship with her family saves the book from being almost nothing but them getting it on, and is better for it. Ramian is a whole different story and is out to sabotage their relationship. He hates land dwellers and uses some dirty tricks to try and separate them. Lots of adult content, no violence.
I really enjoyed Marinda and Gavin's story. Marinda is with faced a super hard choice. Will true love win? This is my first book of this troupe and I loved it.
Overall rating: 4.3 ( advance copy) I was hoping to read a tale involving a unique look at a paranormal and this book fit. The characters took form quickly to spring through this storyline. Being a novella, flying through these pages were a breeze. At times Gavin seemed almost childlike and naive but I believe it worked for this quick tale. Gavin was unfaltering in his desire to hope for the best in people.this book works great for a quick PNR fix between errands or chores. This is a voluntary review.
